We
have only one cat. His name is Sheba, not to be confused with the
pronunciation as the cat food but actually the Greek God of the
Mountain (Ss,he,ba).
I have had
cats in the past that were so lovable, they just would not leave
you alone. Cats who were always jumping on your lap if you sat
down or those who would always and I mean always be rubbing up
against your pant leg. Well, this is not the description for Mr.
Sheba. He is a very solitary cat. He gives love on his terms only
and when he wants to be loved. He'll let you hold him for a few
minutes only before he starts squirming and wants down. He'll
surprise you by coming up to you and rubbing on you, purring the
whole time, waiting for a response from you. He'll let you know
when his bowl is empty by sitting there and meowing and glancing
at his bowl. He is pictured here in his chair. If he is in the
room and you go into the direction of his chair, to sit in his
chair, he'll run and jump into his chair before you can get
there. When he is in his chair, if one of the dogs go by too
close, he'll reach out to swap at them. He is a Maine Coon, by
breed. He has been in cat shows and we are very proud of all the
ribbons that he has won. At the shows, his personality changes.
It must be all the excitement and all the voices of the other
felines. All in all, Mr. Sheba is a good cat and loved by all in
our family.
