Gargoyle

A Gargoyle is a spout in the form of a grotesque human or animal figure projecting from a roof gutter to throw rainwater clear of a building or a grotesquely carved figure or a person with an ugly face. Greek architects often placed terra-cotta or marble lion heads on the roof cornice. The water emptied out of the lions' mouth. Gothic architects used this same idea in their gargoyles, which were drainspouts designed to protect building walls from rainwater that ran down from the roof. Gargoyles project from buildings as much as 3 feet. Gargoyles became important features of Gothic Cathedrals, palaces, and other buildings. The witty stonemasons of the Gothic period often used gargoyles to portray their patrons or colleagues in grotesque form. I, myself, think they are rather stately, guarding a building and watching all. They are also popular now, since you can find small statues of various figures in the department stores. As a matter of fact; I have a small one sitting on the edge of a bookshelf and he's working on a laptop. But, in the past, movies have been made and also, there currently is a children's cartoon show, where as night falls these creatures turn into real beings and when the sun rises, they turn back to stone. Do you think some magical, supernatural influence exists?
