I remember being asked to reflect on the sweetest words ever spoken by Jesus. My thoughts centered on what He said as He hung on the cross. He said, "It is finished." Have you ever noticed that Jesus had a way of getting right to the point? It seems that He could say so much with just a few words.

He came to preach the good news of the Kingdom of God and to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind. He came to release the oppressed and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. He was the good shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep.

Having accomplished all of this, He was able to say, "It is finished." By receiving Him and accepting His free gift of forgiveness we gain eternal life. It is really so simple and on the cross it was so simply stated. "It is finished." In my opinion, three of the sweetest words that Jesus ever spoke because by saying them, I think that He really said it all.

My sheep hear my voice,
And I know them, and they follow me.
And I give them eternal life,
And they shall never perish.
Neither shall anyone,
Snatch them out of My hand.
John 10:27,28

And this is the will of Him who sent Me;
That everyone who sees the Son
And believes in Him
May have everlasting life;
And I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:40
