MARY AND MARTHA
I love reading about Jesus visiting the home of sisters Mary and Martha. Scriptures say that Martha was busy and distracted by preparations that had to be made. After Jesus arrived, Martha went to Him and said, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself?" Tell her to help me." "Martha, Martha." The Lord answered. "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." Mary was sitting at the Lords feet listening to what He was saying. Meanwhile, Martha was doing all of the work. Unfortunately, Martha let her work distract her. Mary, however, had her focus on Jesus. There have been times when you might think that my middle name is Martha. It's easy to get distracted with our day to day business, isn't it? It is interesting how the Lord said that Martha was worried and upset. Sometimes we can get that way when we are feeling under pressure. That is usually when I try to remember Mary. I remember that she sat and she listened to Jesus. That was her priority. She had chosen what was better because she had chosen Him. In return, Jesus defended her to Martha and He gave Mary the one thing that she really needed. He gave Himself. I hope that you will enjoy the following poem. It is one of my favorites. A MARTHA MIND
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let be afraid.
