Junior League Youth Footy

Where kids get their kicks!

The USFootykick program is a youth program based on the highly successful AUSKICK program in Australia.   Auskick allows children to meet and participate in a modified version of the game.  Children first learn about the sport and are taught the fundamental skills needed to be successful in the game.   Several fun drills are available to help children learn these skills and then short modified games on a smaller field are played that allow the child to practice these skills

As you can see by the above diagram, a smaller field and fewer players are used in USFootykick games so that each child will have a chance to actively participate in the game.   This diagram is just one of several that are used.  Very young children play on an even smaller field (Such as 60m X 80m) with a smaller football and as few as six players a side can be used to play a game.   As children get older and skills improve, more players and a larger field are introduced leading up to playing a full 18 a side game on a professional size field as shown in "The Game" portion of this site.

The USAFL has actively begun promoting youth leagues.   I mentioned this offer on the "How to Play" portion of this site but I'd like to mention it again.   The USAFL is offering a youth package that would allow your child to have his or her very own youth football along with a cap, skills guide, parent handbook, AFL player cards and a game program all for $10!   It's a great buy worth checking out.   If you desire to start a youth league in your city, the USAFL again has a program that's hard to beat.   FREE FOOTBALLS!  That's right!  If you promise to get the league going, the folks at the USAFL will send you a box of footballs, an introductory video, a skills video and coaching handbooks along with other useful material to build your program.    The pack provides everything you need to get started and it's absolutely free to those wanting to start a league.   Check out the site for more details.
