Posy Doily
This Posy Doily was originally published in the Australian New Idea Magazine, April 26, 1969. Luckily, it can be found on the internet at http://www.geocities.com/Paris/919/doily/htm. The directions as listed on the internet are good, except that at rounds 28 and 29, there are directions to shift stitches from needle to needle. This is not necessary, as the stitches are in proper order already. This is a "knitted lace" meaning there are no plain knitted rounds between pattern rounds. A very different and interesting doily. I recommend this pattern highly. I did mine in #50 Altin Basak cotton thread(from Turkey). |

Another "knitted lace", this doily was originally published in 1957, and I found it in "Patterns for the Art of Lace Knitting", compiled by Gloria Penning. It is #5 on page 3 of this interesting book.

This beautiful design is found in "The Knitted Lace Patterns of Christine Duchrow" volumn III on page 33. It was originally in her 64th leaflet. Much talk of errors and incomplete patterns put me off from buying the three books of Duchrow patterns, but every serious lace knitter should really have these books. While the charts are a challenge to get through, the actual knitting is no more difficult than other, more modern designers, and these patterns are really worth a trial. I used Londonderry Linen Thread #50/3 on this beauty.
