ACCURATERELOADING'S DISCUSSION BOARD

In Response To: sub moa match loads for 25-06 with 110-120 gr bull (Johan Brodersen)

I use IMR 4350 and roughly get 1/2 MOA with Speer 120 gr flat base hunting loads. I am not pushing the velocity very high.

Try seating your bullet about 10-15 thousandths into the rifling and work up from minimum to test the accuracy potential of your gun.

I also use Remington 9 1/2 Magnum primers. For your hunting rounds seat the bullets away from the riflings so that you don't encounter any reliability problems or excess pressure.

You should be able to improve on the accuracy of hunting bullets by using premium bullets like Bergers.

My gun is loaded for mule deer hunting and gets a lot of jackrabbit and field squirrel use prior to hunting season to get use to shooting at moving targets. Great caliber! I have shot 85 gr bullets but couldn't get much better than 1 MOA.

I have tried 9 different powders and all sort of variations in seating depth and varying boat tailed and flat base bullets.

There are better powders for the 25-06 other than IMR 4350 but you will need to experiment on your given gun.

I have used this caliber since 1988 to kill a lot of mule deer at very long ranges and am continually suprised at how flat the cartridge actually shoots and how effective it is on deer sized game.
