Despite all of the theories explaining how, when and why the pyramids were built, none are distinctly conclusive. There were guesses that the pyramids were built as repositories for pricless scientific data and relics, that they were observatories for astronomers or they were great granaries used to store crops. Recently in 1963, a new theory was discovered and might be contradictory to the accepted age of the Giza Pyramids according to most Egyptologists.
There are two large chambers inside the Great Pyramid, one for the king and one for the queen. From each of these chambers emanate two narrow shafts about 20 by 20 centimeters, sloping upwards into the solid core of the pyramid. Two are directed north and the other two are directed towards the south. It was believed that these shafts served for ventilation, but recently it has been discovered that these shafts were closed at both ends, making the function redundant.

In 1963, it was also discovered that the shafts of the Great Pyramid were astronomically aligned. The north shafts aimed at certain circumpolar stars, while both south shafts pointed toward three stars in Orion's Belt (of the God Osiris) and one bright star called Isis.
Another theory shows how the pattern formed by the Three Great Pyramids and their postion along t he Nile reflects the pattern formed by the three stars of Osiris and their relative position to the Milky Way. The Egyptians may have considered the Milky Way as a "Celestial Nile".
However, the correlation of the stars and the pyramids showed that these reflections matched only in 10,500 BC. The position of the stars slowly change over time due to the precession of the equinoxes (caused by the slow, wobbling motion of the earth's axis). So what could be the meaning of this matching reflection? Could it be possible that these spectacular monuments were built near the whereabouts of 10,500 BC?

The arrangement of the Great Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx once mirrored the arrangement of the Osiris stars and constellation of Leo
Perhaps this observation is a coincidence. Yet, there is another effect that can further verify this. It involves the path of the sun across the 12 constellations of the zodiac. The sun stays in one zodiacal constellation for about 2,160 years, denoting an "astrological age". The Great Sphinx of Giza may mark an astrological age. At present date, we have recently entered the age of Aquarius. In around 2500 BC, when the Sphinx is widely believed to have been built, it was the Age of Taurus. Strangely enough, the Sphinx represents the zodiac constellation of Leo, which was the age in 10,500 BC! In addition, the Great Sphinx would have been directly reflecting the stars of Leo. Even a studyof the erosion and weathering of the Sphinx fixed its age to around 10,500 BC.
To further emphasize, there is much left to be discovered. Many secret doors to the pyramid chambers are restricted to the Egyptian authorities. Could they contain the records of an ancient lost civilization?
