PETS ARE US A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF REPTILES AND SMALL ANIMALS. OUR GOAL IS TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF BOTH OWNER AND PET. BELOW IS A PICTURE OF LOUIE WHO MET AN UNTIMELY DEATH DUE TO THE IGNORANCE OF AN EMPLOYEE AT PETSMART. HE WAS A SWEET IGUANA AND HIS OWNER LOVED HIM. LOUIE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE STORE TO TRY AND GET ASSISTANCE IN WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HIM, BUT THE MANAGER STACY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE OWNERS BROUGHT HIM HOME AND HE DIED LATER THAT WEEK. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE OWNERS IT BECAME CLEAR WHY LOUIE EXPIRED HE WAS SETUP IN THE WRONG HABITAT AND FEDDING AND HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS WERE ALL WRONG. WE NEED TO STOP THIS, TEACH THE EMPLOYEES ABOUT THE ANIMALS THEY ARE SELLING. PETSMART WAS CONTACTED BUT FOR SOME REASON NO RESPONSE WAS EVER RETURNED.

OUR GOAL

OUR GOAL IS TO STOP THE ABUSE OF THESE ANIMALS. WE ARE DEDICATED TO NEVER LET ANOTHER ANIMAL DIE THIS WAY. IT IS NOT THE OWNERS FAULT BUT THE DEALERS WHO ARE MORE INTERESTED IN MAKING A BUCK THEN SUPPLYING ADEQUATE INFORMATION. PLEASE HELP US TO STOP THE ABUSE IF YOU KNOW OF A PLACE THAT IS ABUSING THESE ANIMALS PLEASE LET US KNOW WE WILL TRY AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. UPDATED 08/06/2003 On a recent visit to a privately owned pet store the reptiles and small animals had not been fed for 5 days. We frequent this store on a regular bases that is how we know exactly how long it has been. They think nothing of selling you a snake with mites. There is one easy way for a person to tell if a snake has mites, usually around their eyes it is puffy and their eyes sink in a little bit. When the eyes look like this that means the mites will soon spread to the body. The mites usually start breeding in or around the interior of the eyes. so beware when purchasing your snakes have the pets store check the eyes in front of you. caution if they do not know how then they are not educated well enough to provide information on reptiles. There are so many bad pet stores out there it is hard to find healthy animals. We receive many complaints. Since the laws are not distinct on these animals it is hard to police them. We do our best to inform the pet stores, many of the smaller pet stores will readily take our oinfo and try to improve their animals. But, the chain stores such as Petsmart and Petco try to ban us from their stores. The next time you go in a pet store check out the reptile and small animal departments and you will see how bad they really are. Every animal is cute when it is small but they grow and some can grow very big. PLEASE HELP US? REPORT ABUSE!!!!!!!!!
