INFO ON CHESLY SEARS

Chesly Sears was born Nov. 11, 1824 possibly in Howard Co., MO. He died Nov. 15, 1902 in Nevada, Vernon Co., MO. He is buried in Deepwood Cemetery. He is the son of John Joseph Sears and Elizabeth (Kerby) Sears.

Chesly's funeral was held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Nov. 16, 1902 with Rev. H.L. Walker officiating.

In the 1850 Macon Co., MO. census this Sears family lived at LaPlata, and moved to Scott Co., Illinois by 1870. The name of C. Sears appears on the list of 21 voters in the poll books for an election at LaPlata on May 7, 1860.

In the 1870 Winchester, Scott CO., ILL. census, Chesly is listed as a Farm Laborer and had a personal estate of $1000.00. About 1872 they moved to Nevada, Vernon Co., MO.

Chesly married Elizabeth C. McClanahan on Sept. 12, 1848 in Macon Co., MO. by S.C. Davidson.

Elizabeth born in 1820 in Cumberland, TN. She died Oct. 17, 1908 in Nevada, Vernon CO., MO. She is buried in Deepwood Cemetery. Her funeral was held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Oct. 18, 1908 with Rev. H.S. McCord officiating.

Chesly and Elizabeth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1898.
