The Countesses chamber.




Stepping thru the door you enter a warm room, richly furnished with dark wood and deep velvet. The main feature is a huge fourposter bed draped with purple, black and crimson blankets and throws, and you realise that you have entered the Countesses chamber.

There is a huge log fire roaring in the grate to your right and yet there is a chill in the air. As you glance around you realise this draft comes form the window which has been left open and is causing the upsetting of the papers on the desk beneath it.

You cross the room to shut the glass and as you look out, see the wind and rain lash down on the road that only a short while ago you travelled in search of shelter. The clouds have covered the moon and there is little light, all you can hear is the wind, rain, and thunder. A sudden bolt of lightning illuminates the country for miles around before it is once more plunged into darkness. You shiver at the thought that you might have been left in such a storm and silently thank the Countess for letting you rest here.


You begin to idly rearrange the papers on the desk ;
...as you do so you notice a letter the Countess has been writing...


As you look at the grand bed you see a book lies beside a burning candle on the table next to it. You go over to see what it is that the Countess has been reading. Smiling you see it is Lewis Carroll's collection of 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking-Glass'...



You move to look at the Countesses dressing table, it is covered with pots of glitter and eyeliners and eyeshadows in every shade of purple, grey, black and silver. As you are examining all the different types of glitter in amazement ; previously glitter had always been but one thing but here there are infinite variations ; you find your eyes are drawn to the mirror, and like Alice in 'through the looking-glass', you begin to wonder what the looking-glass room is like.

You start to reach out your fingers to the mirror...



And now you perhaps wish to leave the room and return to the hall...



...or you may leave this game of fantasy...
