Changing throttle body on the 2.4

This is really an easy thing to do. First of all you have to remove the black box on top of the TB. To do this you have 2 nuts that are on the head that have to come off. Next there are 2 belt clamps that have to be loosened, 1 is on the rubber s tube and the other is between the TB and black box. The one on the rubber s tube is very easy to get to, so know need to go into that. The one between the TB and black box is easy to, all you have to do is look for a small hole in the front of the black box and in there you can see the belt clamp. Now remove the black box, but there is a hose connect in the back of the black box that will just come off, but when putting it back on make sure you reconnect the hose. Now onto removing the TB. First there are a bunch of hose's that can be just pulled of, make sure you remember which one goes where or make them. Next there is 4 bolts on the top of the TB remove them. Now lift up on the TB and it will come off. Now for the throttle cable and idle cable just turn the TB so you can remove the cables out there holes, leave the springs to them alone, if getting a new TB they should come with it. At the bottom of the TB is a rubber seal ring, make sure you put that back on when putting your new TB on. Just follow these steps backwards to but your new TB on. One last thing, don't over tighten the TB, cause you will strip it very easy.

Performance crank pulley

This tip is for all of you that have the 2.4 motor. If you get a performance crank pulley, it is best to have a shop do it. For those of you that wish to do it yourself. Start by getting the torque specks for it from GM, I will not give them to you. Next remove and jack up the front left side of the car. Remove the inter black plastic wheel well covering or get it loose so it hanks from the top. Next remove the old serpentine belt. Next remove the old crank pulley. Next put in the new performance crank pulley and make sure you torque it to the right specks, if you don't then the engine will vibrate, now put the new belt that comes with the new pulley on and then put everything back the way you took it off.

Install of super hi-flo intake

Installing the super hi flow system. This takes a good hour or more. First step is to get the fuse box loose so you have room to do the rest of the stuff, to do this, all you have to do is in the front part of the fuse box is take out the plastic push lock and lift up on the fuse box so the back part comes out, then remove all the black plastic in the engine compartment from the rubber s tube back. Once you have that done, jack up your car on the drivers side, take off the front tire. Remove the black wheel well cover in the front part of the tire. Now remove the rest of the stock intake black plastic tubing. Once you got all that done you are ready to install the super hi flow system. Take the new tube and connect it to the rubber s tube, run it down into the wheel well area. Put on the K&N filter. Put back on the black wheel well cover, tire and jack you car down. You are done

Getting past the speed limiter

This tip will only work on 5 speed, sorry to those who have an automaitc. This will not work on the automatic, cause what it is doing is braking the singal that the tranni and speedo sends to the OBD II and the automatic needs the OBD II to help it run. The steps are very easy. First off you have to find where the 2 wires that go into the 5 speed tranni that control your speedo. The wires should be purple and yellow. They should be at the end of the tranni, where your half shafts or 2 drive shafts come out at. To make sure you have the correct 2 wires, disconnect the whole plug from the tranni. Then take your car for a drive. If your speedo does not work you have the right 2 wires. Now you have to find where you want to add a switch for the inside of your car. When you find where ever you want to put a switch, you have to take and run 2 wires from the switch down to where the wires are on the tranni. If the wires are purple and yellow then cut the purple one. It really doesn't matter what wire you really cut, cause all you are doing is braking the loop that the tranni sends to your OBD II that tells the car to cut off fuel when going over 100 mph. Now after you get the wiring done inside of the car and your ready to splice the wire at the tranni, just give yourself a few inches of wire, case you ever want to take the switch out. So you can rehook the wire at the tranni back together. What I did was make it so I had a switch where my electric window buttons where, but I did not drill the hole until I tested it to see if it would work on an automatic. From there I took all the stuff out of the way to get the wiring under the middle compartment, once I got that all out of the way I started to run my wiring. I started at the place that I wanted to have the wiring go through to the outside of the car, and that was just above the brake and to the upper left of the floor board. The one pic shows where I started the wiring. I then made sure that I had anought wiring coming out into the engine compartment to reach down to the bottom of the tranni. I would say you will need about 5 to 6 feet of wire and this has to be 2 wires. One tip in the middle of this. I got one pack of wire 35 feet long and opened it and what I did was get both ends of the wire and pushed them through so I did not have to deal with 2 sperate wires. Now that I got the wiring through from the inside to the outside or engine compartment. I then went and ran the wire to where I was going to have the switch. I put as much of the wire under my carpet as I could and then under the center compartment between the 2 seats. I then cut the wire in half and splice the switch in. You only need a 2 prong switch. Now with all that done. I put the whole inside of the car back together. Now I took the wiring that I had that I put into the engine compartment and ran it over the back part of the fire wall and then done to the side where the wires where on the tranni. Then I got under the car again and cut the purple wire and spliced one of the wires to one side of where I cut the wire on the tranni and then I spliced the other wire to the other side of the cut wire. Now with the switch turned on the loop is not broken and the speedo reads the speed that you are going. Now with the switch turned off, the speedo will read that you are doing 0 and this will allow you to go as fast as you want to go. The OBD II will not know that you are going over 100 plus mph cause it will only think that you are doing 0 mph.

Quick tips

1. Making any kind of performance mod to your car? Whenever you make a change for performance, be it just a small thing like changing mufflers to doing big things as heads or cams. Always disconnect the battery. Whenever you make any type of change, you always want to disconnect the battery. This will let your cars computer readjust for the change that you have made.

2. Going to be doing after-market performance mods to there cars? When you go to get a product, ask around the internet and get a view from many people on what they think of the part. There are many webrings to go to look at other peoples mods and ask them questions to, but be careful, cause some if not most say they are sponsored by a company and will only say that the ones that they are sponsored by are the best.

3. Something that will help you when and if you ever order any after-market stuff. Before you order it. Ask if it is in stock and if it is in stock, ask to see how long it will be before you get it. If it is not in stock and you still want to get it. Find out when the date that it is supposed to come in and get a date that you will be getting it. Some people have ordered stuff and have waited a long time to get stuff. By taking a few steps before you order something, hopefully you can avoid this. Remember that companies or just normal people to and that they have mistakes to. So check up on your order after a week or so, but do it in a good manor. This will also remind the company of your order if by chance it gets lost. All companies do there best to get the stuff to you, but sometimes they run into trouble to. So remember that they are people to.
