Faithful Dog

A Faithful Dog Will Play With You
And Laugh With You -Or Cry-
He'll Gladly Starve To Stay With You
Nor Ever Reason Why,
And When You're Feeling Out Of Sorts
Somehow He'll Understand
He'll Watch You With His Shining Eyes
And Try To Lick Your Hand.
His Blind, Implicit Faith In You
Is Matched By His Great Love -
The Kind That All Of Us Should Have
In The Master, Up Above.
When Everything Is Said And Done
I Guess This Isn't Odd
For When You Spell "Dog" Backwards
You Get The Name Of God.

Two Little Shadows

I saw a young woman
With eyes full of laughter,
And two little shadows
Came following after.
Wherever she moved,
They were always right there
Rubbing on her skirts,
Jumping on her chair.
Before her, behind her....
an adhesive pair.
"Don't you ever get weary,
as day after day,
Your two little tagalongs
Get in your way?"
She smiled as she shook
Her pretty young head,
And I'll always remember
The words that she said:
"It's good to have shadows
That run when you run,
That play when you're happy
And howl when you hum....
For you only have shadows
When your life's filled with sun."

Abigail

Just four weeks old and left alone to live upon this earth,
She never knew her mom who died soon after abby's birth.
No calcium in her body to keep her mom alive.
Extremely frail and helpless, Abby struggled to survive.
I found her in a box that was placed upon some sand,
Her tiny little body fit well within my hand.
She needed a new beginning, a clean fresh new start.
Those big brown eyes just saw through me, deep within my heart.
Her growing years are cherished, of them I'm very fond,
The love we share between us, the strength of our bond.
She'll sit upon my lap with a heart filled with content,
God blessed me with my little girl, she's truly heaven sent.
I know how much she loves me by the way she wags her tail,
My life's been blessed because of her, because of Abigail.
