PyroFaerie Forest

Kira found herself wandering, yet again, through a forest at dusk. Myree was at her side and in a padded bag on her bag was her Narfig egg. She wondered where she could be now, she had only left the Narfig Plains an hour or two ago, and suddenly she had found herself in a thick pine forest.

There were hovering pinpoints of light around her that Kira thought were fireflies and ignored them, making her way as swiftly as possible through the unknown forest. Suddenly, one of the fireflies appeared on her shoulder, and, upon closer inspection, Kira was delighted to find that it was a tiny fire faerie!

Kira held out her hand to the faerie and she hopped onto it. Kira slowly moved her hand until it was level with her eyes and she could hear the faerie's tiny voice. "Greetings! I am a PyroFaerie! Would you care to play? Or maybe take home one of my young?" The PyroFaerie giggled and did a swan dive off her hand, then zipped away into the forest. "Wait! Come back!" Kira ran after it, Myree trotting alongside.

The followed the streak of light to a wide field of flowers alive with glowing faeries; at the far end was a cave. The PyroFaerie headed towards it, and Kira followed, doing her best not to run into any of the agile faeries around her. She came to a hault at the cave entrance where the faerie zipped inside through an opening about the size of Kira's fist.

Moments later, the PyroFaerie appeared with an egg in her arms. She giggled at flew circles around Kira's head. "This is a PyroFaerie egg. You can have it if you promise to look after it and play with it every day." Kira nodded earnestly. "Okay, here you go!" The PyroFaerie deposited the egg next to the much larger Narfig egg in Kira's pouch, then zipped away. "Thank you! I will take good care of your egg!"

Kira trudged back to the house, Myree and Clover, her green Narfig, trotting along beside her. She glanced down at her watch, which read 6:30 a.m. Clover had awakened her at 5:38 that morning to go for a walk, and the early awakening was taking its toll on the Narfig's owner. Myree stopped walking suddenly, and looked up at Kira's house, then at the window of her room. Kira...you might wanna pick up the pace a little. Something's going on in your room that you might wanna see.

Kira ran full speed for the house, slamming the door behind her accidently. She jogged down the hallway to her room, and stopped breathless, in her doorway to see the tiny PyroFaerie egg rolling all over her bed at an alarming speed. The blankets she had wrapped it in were discarded at the end of her bed, so the egg was free to rock and tumble wherever it wished.

Kira quickly ran to her beside and picked up the trembling egg, which began to glow with an inner light. Pinpoints of red-orange light filtered through tiny cracks in the protective shell until the egg burst apart; the pieces of shell flying in all directions. A male PyroFaerie stretched in the middle of Kira's cupped hands, then peered up at her questioningly.

Kira giggled at his expression, which showed confusion and then embaressment as he realized he was naked. Kira quickly ripped a piece off her conveniently red shirt and handed it to him; he wrapped it around himself and then looked at her expectantly. "Food! I suppose you'd like food wouldn't you?"

After the PyroFaerie was fed, he perched on her shoulder, flapping his wings rapidly to get the strengthened. Kira prepared herself and her other two friends breakfast in the meantime, the PyroFaerie watching her every move from his seat. He had managed to make himself a crude tunic and pants out of the fabric from Kira's shirt, and now appeared to be satisfied. Kira fed herself, Myree, and Clover, cleaned up, then found herself wondering about a name for the newest addition of her family.

As if he knew what she was struggling with, the PyroFaerie suddenly took flight, flying red-orange streaks around the kitchen. When he came to a stop on her shoulder, his rapidly flapping wings shimmered red, then orange then yellow, the colours of the sun as it rose. "You shall be called Sunwing." The faerie nodded in approvel, then said quietly, "You should probably know that my real name is Naelis." Kira's eyes widened slightly. "Oh! I didn't know you had a name already. Will, Sunwing shall be my nickname for you then."

Naelis nodded. "That's a bit better. Now then, I bet there's a whole world out there that I need to explore. Come on Kira!" He began insistantly tugging at Kira's shirt. "How did you know my name?" The PyroFaerie shrugged. "Why shouldn't I? Now come on! I wanna go somewhere...this place is sooo boring..." Kira laughed. "Alright already! Myree, Clover, let's get outta here!"
