Dreadful Thoughts is:
Dreadful Thoughts is a band based out of San Antonio playing original rock written mostly by Jon Bryan. The band started forming in 1993 when school friends Jon Bryan and Brett Wilson had the idea. Soon after, Brett introduced Jon to longtime friend Jason Gower. Jon began teaching Jason the basics of bass guitar for the sole purpose of recording one song, "Dark Day." (A song written by Jon as a dedication for a friend who had been killed in 1992, Debbie Fenster.) The recording was going to serve as a dedication to both Debbie and Trever, Jason's twin brother, who had been killed in 1994. After a bummed effort to record the song using pre-recorded drums, it was decided a drummer was needed. So, Jon set out to find drummer Eric Vigil, who had played with Jon in the punk band American Nightmare a couple years earlier. With Eric on board, the four realized they had a great potential to do more than record just one song. They chose to name themselves "Dreadful Thoughts" since the entire reason the four got together was because of the sensless murders of their loved ones leaving them with nothing but their thoughts of loss they dreaded having everyday. This also birthed a lifetime brotherhood amongst them. After playing together for a couple years, Jason moved to rhythm guitar, under the instruction of Jon. Brett then moved from backing vocals to bass guitar, under the instruction of both Jason and Jon. Recently, Eric and Jason both left the band to pursue other musical interests. The original line up had a final show on January 28, 2000 at Boomerang's Cocktails. However, Eric has agreed to play with the band at their February 25 show, once again at Boomerang's Cocktails. Eric is playing with another band and is not a current member of Dreadful Thoughts; however, he is and always will be considered family.
The January 28 show was the final show with the original line up. However, as you can see, keep you eyes and ears open. You never know when all the original members may be playing. Until then thanks for the support through out the years.
There has been talk of all the members reuniting to do it all over again. We'll keep you posted to let you know.
