What started out as simply a
high school basketball team, turned out to be the most successful team
in Canadian history. The Edmonton Grads - a woman's basketball team
played from 1915 - 1940. Statistics include winning 49 out of 51
championships. In a course that spanned several seasons they won 147
games in a row. Out of 522 games played in total over the 25 years, the
Edmonton Grads won 502 of them. Exhibition games were held in the
Olympics in 1924 and 1936 - they won both times. Their leading scorer
was Noel MacDonald with 1,874 and Margaret MacBurney with 12 years as a Grad held the longest playing record.
