Que4: Version[s]: 2002 / 2003
ICQ only maintains a copy of your Contacts List on the ICQ server. Message histories are stored locally in your ICQ database folder usually here:
C:\Program Files\ICQ\200Xx [Where X & x is the number and letter of your particular version]
Because both exist in the ICQ database folder it is advisable to back-up the folder to ensure your message histories remain intact. Keep in mind that backing up your database folder is simply a precaution against something going wrong during a reinstall or upgrade.

Que5: Version[s]: 2002 / 2003
Your Contacts List and Message History are all contained in your ICQ Database folder located in your ICQ Directory. Unless you specified otherwise during the installation procedure, the Directory can be found here:
C:\Program Files\ICQ\200Xx [Where X & x is the number and letter of your particular version]
To back-up your Contacts List simply make a copy of the Database folder that is specific to the version of ICQ you are using and place it somewhere other than the ICQ directory OR backup to disk.

2.) Verify that ALL your User Files Attributes are set to "Archived".
Here's how:

Keep in mind that deleting a User from your list also deletes that User's stored message history as well. The amount of time it takes for deletion will depend on the size of that message history and your computers capabilty to deal with it.
