The problem may be related to the "Sounds" feature you are using, specifically, the "typing" sound. Try disabling. You can accomplish this by clicking on the sound button in your message window (the one with the speaker icon on it). A red X will confirm that sounds are turned off.

ICQ will not send messages over 450 characters IF:
1.) Messages are composed and sent to a User who is offline.
OR
2.) You are attempting to send a message to a User who is using an older version of ICQ that has a 450 character limit.

Que8: Version[s]: All Versions
Not receiving messages that were composed and sent to you while you were offline OR others not receiving messages composed by you while they were offline has been a consistent and periodic issue throughout all versions of ICQ. Server upgrades and equipment changes on ICQ's side is usually responsible. Because it is on the ICQ server side there is nothing you can do about it. It is not a settings issue on your side. You should find that in time, your offline messaging capabilities will return. If your messages are critical, then ensure you are both online for the procedure. If not, use the old reliable.. email.
