What is DBZ? Are you a newbie to anime or to DBZ? Well then I wrote this article for you, so read on..... Dragon Ball Z is the story of a man named Goku. Goku is married to his wife Chi-Chi and has a son named Gohan.One day he goes to visit his old friends Krillin, Bulma, and Master Roshi. Master Roshi was his trainer, Krillin is his best friend, and Bulma is a scientist who accompanied Goku in his quest for the dragon balls when he was a child. Unfortunately their visit is cut short by the arrival of Radditz, Goku’s long lost twin brother. Radditz explains that Goku is a member of the Saiyans, an alien race from another planet who destroy planets then sell them for money. He offers Goku to join him and the two other remaining Saiyans to destroy planets. Goku refuses, and Radditz then takes Gohan and flies off. Goku has to join up with the only one strong enough to help him, his arch nemesis Piccolo. With Piccolo’s help Goku is able to defeat Radditz but he must sacrifice himself as well. Piccolo explains to a dying Radditz that Goku is not lost forever, on earth there are things called Dragonballs, he who collects all seven may summon the Dragon and have any one wish granted. Goku’s friends have already collected three of the seven dragonballs and with the help of Bulma’s “Dragon Radar” the others won’t be hard to find. Radditz then explains to Piccolo that in his foolishness he has just told Nappa and Vegeta, the other two remaining Saiyans, about the Dragonballs. And Nappa and Vegeta are a lot stronger than Radditz! Enraged with himself Piccolo takes it upon himself to train Gohan who demonstrated his hidden power during the fight against Radditz. The Earthlings have one year to prepare for the Saiyans’ arrival Meanwhile in heaven Kami, guardian of the earth, instructs Goku to travel along Snake Way and to reach the house of King Kai, the greatest fighting master known to earth, to recieve training. Back on Earth an elite group of fighters is being assembled. Called “Earth Special Forces” it consists of Krillin Goku’s best friend, Tien a three eyed human, Chaou zu a small child like psychic, Yamcha Bulma’s love of life and part time pro baseball player, and Yajirobe a short tubby fighter who would rather be eating than fighting Thus begins the journeys of the Dragonball gang. Later on they will fight Vegeta and Nappa. Travel to the planet Namek to search for the original dragonballs, meet Frieza, the most powerful being in the universe, and join up with Vegeta to finally defeat Frieza. Dragon Ball Z repremiered in Canada last fall on YTV. At first I was skeptical but hey look at me now. DBZ is full of action, along with gripping friendships, rivalries, and teamwork. This, is what really really good anime is made of.
