This program concentrates on the importance of choosing and wearing the correct Personal Protective Equipment for the job at hand. The majority of all workplace accidents could be avoided, or the risk of injury substantially lowered if workers wear the proper P.P.E. correctly, and at all times. In addition, these policies MUST be enforced by supervision in an aggressive manner.
The various types of Personal Protective Equipment are discussed, along with their proper use and care. Workers and supervisors will learn how to assess the hazards through identifying sources or airborne particles, blood borne pathogens, noise levels, running nip hazards, fall potential, chemical exposure, temperature, and other unique situations.
Armed with this information, the worker can choose the correct P.P.E. for the task, and feel comfortable in the fact that they are safe and adequately protected from injury.
It is important to realize however, that the use of P.P.E. is NOT a personal decision that can be made by the worker. There must be strict adherance to your company policies on the use of protective equipment, and the penalties for not following these policies must be immediate and severe. If this is not the case, the outcome can be devastating.
This program can be combined with other courses such as the hearing conservation program, protecting hands and feet, back safety, or any other course that may be suitable. Click on our main page for more details. (http://www.thinksafety1st.com)
