We heard it today, that people are dying,
As airplanes crash into buildings.
Men and women jump out those windows,
Now children are crying.

I’m sure everyone’s thinking ‘why me?’,
As they cannot find those lost family members.
They sob in horror, and let tears fall freely,
Saying ‘Can’t they just let us be?’

No one could imagine such terror within,
That country, dubbed safe and free.
Such hate and such anger arise,
Who could commit such a sin?

Prayers are said, and candles lit,
We all shed our tears and offer our hope.
Blood is donated, and supplies being sent,
All support going out to those who were hit.

Suspects have risen, and clues been found out.
People say that this could be the start of a war.
While some, they believe that,
Some minds fill with doubt.

We heard it from the President, and from the Mayor.
This tragedy will not go unnoticed, they will retaliate.
The perpetrators not go unharmed, they will pay for their acts.
We hope, and again our minds fill with prayer.

Turn on the TV, and flip station to station.
Nothing to be seen but the news from today.
