This page started as a result of our Softball Teams Biannual Trip to Florida to watch Spring Training and
participate in a Slo-Pitch (Slowpitch) Softball Tournament. Due to interest we will be expanding and updating the page. If you have any suggestions or information do not hesitate to send us an e-mail.

2002
Oct. 28: 15-day period begins for
eligible players to elect free agency
Nov. 10-14 -- General managers meetings,
Tucson, Ariz.
Nov. 20: Last day to protect players by adding them to the 40-man roster
Dec. 7: Last day for clubs to offer salary arbitration to declared free
agents; if club does not offer arbitration, club loses right its right to sign
the free agent until May 1, 2003
Dec. 13-15: Baseball's Winter Meetings held in Nashville, TN
Dec. 19: Last day for declared free agents to accept arbitration offer;
if the arbitration is rejected, the club can still negotiate and sign the player
until Jan. 8, 2003
Dec. 20: Last day for club to tender contracts.
2003
Jan. 5-15 -- Salary arbitration filing.
Jan. 8 -- Last day until May 1 for free agents offered arbitration to
re-sign with their former teams.
Jan. 18 -- Salary arbitration figures exchanged.
Feb. 1-21 -- Salary arbitration hearings.
Feb. 14 -- First day for pitchers, catchers and
injured players to report to spring training.
Feb. 19 -- First day for other players on other
teams to report to spring training.
Feb. 26 -- Mandatory reporting date.
March 2-11 -- Teams may renew contracts of unsigned players.
March 27 -- Last day to place players with nonguaranteed contracts on
unconditional release waivers without paying their entire 2003 salaries.
March 31 -- Opening day. Active rosters reduced to 25 players.
