My Maternal Family, My Inspiration, My Thoughts....

 My Family boasts of its noble ancestors, who have held Royal Statures in the society.

My Great Grand-father Rai Bahadur. Nitya Gopal Ghosh was honored with the title of Rai Bahadur, on January 1, 1938, by King Goerge VI and Queen Elizabeth's reign. Earlier he was Honored with the Title of Rai Sahab , on January 1^st 1930, during the Reign of King Goerge V and Queen Mary of England. My Great Grand Mother ( Late Smt Haridasi Ghosh ), Adi-Ma, as we used to call her, belonged to Royal family herself. Her father was a influential land lord in Murshidabad Dist of Bengal. I am really Lucky Enough that I did see her. She left us all, on 25th May, 1986, at the age of 91 yrs.
Surendra Chandra Roy (Narayanpur) - Landlord of Narayanpur, PO: Patuli, Dist: Barddhaman - He had one son -
Shri Bhupendra Chandra Roy (1882-1952). Worked for Eastern India Railways (EIR), post independence - Indian Railways
W/o - Smt. Saroj Prabhadasi Roy (1902-1977) from Jagadanandapur, Sub Div Katwa, Dist Burdwan.
They had 5 sons and 1 daughter.
A) Samarendra Chandra Roy (S.C Roy) (1915-1987) - Worked in Railways - Lived in Muzaffarpur, Samastipur & Patna. He had 4 daughters & 2 Sons
1) Gitali Roy (Boro Masi) - Patna
2) Prokiti Roy (Shanu Masi) - Patna
3) Meenaxi Roy (Bulu Masi) - Patna
4) Debasish Roy (Babu Mama) - Ranchi - Working with a Pharma company in Ranchi Has one Son Rana Roy & a daughter Rhea Roy
5) Nivedita Roy (Mili Masi) - Married to Capt Deb Nirmmallya (Merchent Navy) - They have a beautiful daughter Antara Ghosh
6) Subhashish Roy ( commonly known as Sonamoni) - working as Vice President (Technical) with Tara TV Network in Calcutta.
He is married to Bibli Mami and has a son - Shubhayu Roy (MS @ University of Texas at Austin)
B) Durga Rani Roy (Mitra) (1918-1988) - married to Er. Shri Kashinath Mitra, Civil Engineer with Indian Railways, studied at Patna & lived in Banaras. They had 2 daughters & 1 Son 1) Pronoti Roy (Sadhana Masi) married to barrister Kanan.Kumar.Ghosh of Calcutta High Court. Kakan Mesho worked as senior barrister and served as chairman of Calcutta High Court Bar Association. He belongs to famous ghosh family of Gaya. Sadhana Masi retired from Ashok Hall Girls School in Calcutta. They have one son Anirban Ghosh (Dutai dada) married to Kavita Ghosh -> Their daughter - Aisha Ghosh (Journalism in Long Island New York) -> Bombay and Deblina Ghosh (Chakrabarti) married to Mr Anjan Chakrabarti, senior advocate in Delhi High Court. They live in Delhi. mohona charavorty (munia) 2) Tridib Mitra & Debarati Mitra - 2 Sons - Ayan & Raj 3) Santana Bose (Shanu Masi) - married to Prashanta Bose. She is a classical singer and has performed on AIR. They have a daughter Shivarati (Jojo didi) married to XXXX studied - Food, Nutrition & Dietics from University of Bombay, worked as J.D.BIRLA INSTITUTE and currently persuing MBA from IIMK.
C) Amiya Kumar Roy (A.K Roy) (1925-1988) - Worked in Railways - Lived in Patna. He had Sons 1) Amitava Roy (Kedar Mama) - Worked as Asst Brach Manager, SBI Dhanbad. He has a son Avishek Roy (married to Priyanka Bhowmik Roy) and a daughter Upasna Roy 2) Anupam Roy (Badri Mama) - associated with State Bank of India He has a son XXXXXX Roy
D) Kalyan Kumar Roy (K.K Roy) (Dadu) -(10/June/1928-31/Aug/2009) - Worked with Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Central Excise & Customs, Govt. of India. - Lived in Banaras. He had 1 Son and 2 Daughters 1) Arunava Roy (Mama) - Working with a Shreya Pharma in Varanasi He has a daughter Arunima Roy (married to Sumit Paul, working in Infy, Mohali) and a son Bhaskar Roy (studing Engg from AKG Engineering College, Ghaziabad.) 2) Sarbani Ghosh 3) Indrani Ghosh (married to Satyandra Krishna Ghosh with Indian Telephone Industry) Arnab Ghosh (working with KPMG Gurgaon) Saurabh Ghosh (studying Engineering in Mathura)
E) Dilip Kumar Roy (D.K Roy) (1931-1998) - Worked as Director Industries, State Industries Dept, Govt. of UP
F) Lt. Col. Pradeep Kumar Roy (Lt Col.P.K Roy) (1936-2010) - Retired as Lt. Col, AEC ,Indian Army. 1) Col Pranab Kumar Roy (Col P.K Roy) (Raja)- married to Chitra Roy and has a daughter - Projookta 2) Priyanka Roy (Runa) married to Niladri Bose (Indian Navy) . They have a son Saswat Bose and cute little daughter Kyna Bose.

My Grand-mother Annapurna Roy comes from Mitra Family of Katwa. Her Grand-father, Shri Ram Krishna Mitra (IA) worked in Purnea Kachari (court) His ansistrial village was Charpuni (Srikhanda) in Katwa. He had 3 Sons -
1) Devendranath Mitra (1894-1952)
2) Narayan Chandra Mitra
3) Atul Krishna Mitra Devendranath Mitra (1894-1952) - Studies MSc. Mathematics from Presidency College, Calcutta and later worked at Patna Secretariet. He had 3 childern -
a) Kripa Rani Mitra - He lives in Bokaro, and has 2 Sons.
b) Deepti Kona Mitra(Ghosh), married to Nemai Charan Ghosh of Gopal Nagar; N.C. Ghosh was a mathematics professor at Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Calcutta. They have 9 Daughters and 1 Son (Himadri Ghosh).Himadri aka Bapi mama, worked with IBM Calcutta. He has one daughter Madhubrata, who studied Chemestry from Lady Brabourne College, Calcutta and completed her masters from IIT G. She is currently persuing her PHd in organic chemestry from NUS, Singapore.
c) Annapurna Roy - (1933-2010). Dida was born in Purnea, but later her family moved to Patna. She was a pious lady who believed in simplicity. She loved studies and had excellent educational qualifications, when compared to people of those time. She was double Masters and B.Ed. She did her first MA in Philosophy from Patna University. Later she did her second MA in Sociology from Bharatiya Vidyapeeth (now known as Kashi Vidyapeeth at Banaras. She wrote her theis paper on "Swami Vivekanada - as a Social Thinker". A copy of her thesis is still kept in the university and used as a reference by current students. Post her second MA, she completed her B.Ed from Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

My Aunt , Mrs Swapna Sinha ( alias Ratna ), is youngest among all her brothers. I call her Maam. She is the sweetest of all in the family and all our cousins love her equally. I can never remember a time when she came from Ranchi empty handed, every time bringing something or other for all of us- be it toys or Frooty or Story books. She has never differentiated among her own children & nephews. I had stayed at her house in Ranchi during my class XI & XII at DPS. She has a Son- Debjit (alias Somu) and a Daughter- Devika (alias Chumki). 

Debjit (Dada as I call him), is eldest of all of us.  He is the most loved one in our family. It was real fun when we were togather. He had been very brilliant student right from the beginning, had secured 92% in class X  ICSE' 95. He obtained his B.Tech (EE) from IIT-Kharagpur and is presently pursuing Phd. in Computer Engg. from NorthWestern University, Evanstone, Chicago. To Visit his Webpage Click Here

Anamika (Muniya), is the eldest girl in our family ( Whole Generation). She is a simple God fearing girl & is very reserved and quite. Muniya is now in her IInd Yr B.Tech(CSE) at Siliguri Institute of Technology, Siliguri. She even topped her Dept in First Yr.

Debika(Chumki)is presently in Second Yr B.Tech (CSE) at Sidhganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur,Bangalore. She is really cool one & enjoys outing, parting & Pizzas.

Kasturi (Dona) is in her XIIth grade at DPS R.K Puram, New Delhi.Earlier she has passed her Xth from St. Helen's School, Kurseong and had secured 91% in ICSE'03 exams. Dona, quite resembles her dad when it comes to academics. She's a good student, and I am sure has a very bright future waiting for her.

Anirban (Bhai) is in his XIIth Grade at K.V Katihar. He is a real Computer Freak. He had mastered Adode Pagemaker 6.5, MS Office at time when he was in Class VIth.

Abhinav (Rony) is in his B.Tech(ECE) First yr, at RV College of Engineerring, Bangalore. Earlier he had done his XIIth from DPS Panipat. He is a real cool guy. I had been with him for a month during my training & just came to know that the guy has been boycotted by all GIRLS of his class(DPS), as had literally abused a girl, when she tried to propose him.

Ashmita (Bony) is attending the Xth grade at DPS Panipat. She is real sweet as well as Dominating Girl. During my visit at Panipat, One fine morning she came back from tution frustated, on asking she said that her friend had tore apart her shoe. She was determined to teach her friend a lession & as a result tore apart both her friend's shoes & threw them in nearby Sewage Drain.That Poor Girl had to go back home without her shoes !. The best thing she likes is eating spicy food & one of her favourate hangout is Hari Dhaba on NH2-- esp having the Delicious Alu Parathas

Arnov (Anshu) is in the IXth grade at Welham Boy's, Dehradun. Anshu, being the youngest in our long list of cousins, enjoys the previledge of being attended to the most. He's a wonderful young chap. He was recently at Kolkata. Check out these current pictures of his.
