Ezra D Persons' obituary [Paper name unknown] "Another one of the early settlers passed from earth when E. Persons breathed his last on October 25 at 11:30 P.M., 1910. Mr. Persons reached the ripe old age of 89 years and two days. "His death was due to pneumonia, having been ill only a few days. All that loving kindness could do for him was done, but to no avail. "Ezra Persons was born at Ellisburg, Jefferson County, New York, on October 26, 1821. He was united in marriage to Harriet Madee on July 3, 1845. To them were born six children, of which five are living. The couple came west to Walworth county, Wisconsin in the fall of 1854. The wife and mother died November 27th, only a few month after arriving in their newly adopted home, leavng the father with six small children. He was married to his surviving wife, Mary Polly Liscom (sic) on September 25, 1859. Two years later they moved to Jackson County, Wisconsin locating on a homestead seven miles west of Black River Falls, in the town of Albion. To this union were born 13 children, of whom 10 are now living. "Mr. Persons was a resident of Jackson County from 1861 until his death except for three years spent in Floyd County, Iowa between 1877 and 1880, after which time he resided near and at Millston, Wisconsin."p>Elizabeth Persons According to her headstone in the Rock Grove Cemetery, Nora Springs, Floyd County, Iowa, Elizabeth was born 1 April 1847. Her death record lists her birth year as 1849. The year 1849, however, does not correspond with her age in the 1860 census (12 years old) or with her sister Lucy's birth in 1849. She was married to James Monroe Crowell, but I don't know the date or location. Elizabeth died in Nora Springs on 27 February 1917, and was buried the next day. [from Steve Nutting smnu@hotmail.com]
