The solo interview where I get to ramble aimlessly on and on about my likes, dislikes, opinions, and general nonsense that probably no one will read. But hey, it's fun for me, and that's all that matters, right?

Question #0 - Who is Onyx V.?
A: Onyx V. is one of several pen names for me, Jaleigh Johnson, the creator of this site and author of its stories. I have been writing short stories since I could hold a pen and hope to continue to do so until I can no longer hold one.

Question #1 - How do you pronounce Jaleigh????
A: This one I do get asked often. The quick and dirty guide to my name goes like this: The "Ja" is prounounced "Ju"... the "u" sounds like the "u" in duck and certain other naughty words. The second part: "leigh" sounds like "lee." Put the two parts together and you can pronounce my name with great finesse and make me squeal with girlish delight when you meet me.

Question #2 - What types of stories do you write?
A: Anything that comes to mind, but all of them seem to fall within the Speculative Fiction category. Most are pure Fantasy, with a smattering of Childrens', Sci-Fi, Romance, and Horror mixed in for flavor, add no salt.

Question #3 - Where have I seen your writing before?
A: Refer to the bibliography link at the bottom of this or the main page. It will list where I've been published before.

Question #4 - Who are your favorite writers?
A: Almost too many to count, but I have a special affinity for (in no particular order):
Ed Greenwood, R.A. Salvatore, Patricia McKillip, Jennifer Roberson, Mercedes Lackey, Elaine Cunningham, J. R. R. Tolkien, Peter David, Robert Parker, Janet Evanovich, Lynn Kurland, Kate Novak, Jeff Grubb, The Brothers' Grimm, Robin McKinley, E. Nesbit, Paul Kidd, Yu Watase, Naoko Takeuchi, J.K. Rowling, Hans Christian Anderson, Christie Golden, Marion Zimmer Bradley.....and a ton of others I'm forgetting.

Question #5 - Why do you write?
A: That's an easy one. It's an amazing experience for me to listen to music, see a movie, view a painting, or (most of all) read words that move me--make me laugh or cry. I want to move people like that, with words.

Question #6 - What are your other hobbies/interests, outside of writing?
A: Reading, of course, listening to music, gaming, collecting anime, manga and anything relating to it I can get my hands on, rollerblading, working on my website (once in a blue moon), going to movies, etc...etc...

Question #7 - What is your favorite anime series?
A: Again, not related to writing, but...in no particular order: Fushigi Yugi, Vision of Escaflowne, Sailor Moon, about anything by Miyazaki, Shoujo Kakumi Utena, Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (His and Her Circumstances), Record of Lodoss War OAV, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Slayers, Ah My Goddess!, Tenchi Muyo in Love, Fruits Basket, Full Moon Sagashite, and again, tons of others I like and have yet to see.

Question #9 - What type of Gaming?
A: Not necessarily all at once: I've played 2nd and recently 3rd Edition, homebrew, Ravenloft, and Planescape. I GM a regular Masque of the Red Death campaign, and I have an admitted obsession for the Forgotten Realms, even though the only campaign I ever tried to run there went down in a flaming ball of black dragon dung. I've also played a smidgeon of Shadowrun, a lot of Battletech, just enough Warhammer to overload my brain, and others I'm forgetting. I have a ton of nonsensical quotes and records of our groups' various campaigns that I might post someday, if ever I have time.

Question #10 - When are you going to run out of things to say about yourself?
A: Shut up! I'm enjoying myself!

Question #12 - What is the secret of happiness and the meaning of life?
A: Forty-two--no wait, that's a different question. I'm sorry, that's all the time we have for this interview, thank you all very much for coming, see you soon...
