Wes Collins is the Red Time Force ranger. In certain ways, a co-leader to Jen, the pink ranger. He received his morpher from Jen, who needed his DNA to unlock the morpher that had once belonged to Alex, her deceased(or so we presume) fiancé.
He first met Jen by helping her when she was in trouble with a couple of cyclobots. Because of his resemblence to Alex, the Time Force crew thought of seeking him to unlock the red morpher, which they needed to activate their morphers. Once the DNA matchup was made, Wes had his first experience of being a ranger. However that was cut short by Jen who said they didn't need him anymore. However, Trip convinces Wes to talk to Jen and she finally agrees to give him one more chance. Once that chance is over, she agrees to let him keep it, much to the delight of Trip and Katie.
Wes is the son of a millionaire. However, he chose not to live the wealthy life his father had planned for him, and left to pave his own path. Rather than become owner of Bio-Synth once Mr. Collins passes away, Wes has chosen for his purpose to help others as the red ranger. He has given up his inheritance, and so chooses to earn his living by helping the other rangers with the "Nick of Time" odd jobs.
His first stand up to his father was when a bus load of kids were kidnapped by Nadira and ransomed for money. He tries to get ten million from his father, but he refuses to lend the money. So he kinda... steals it and leaves to faces Nadira. However, all comes out well in the end as he calls the media to inform them of Mr. Collin's "good-will." By the time his dad realizes what he did, Wes has left to find his own future.
One of Wes' dad's money investments was the Silver Guardians. A group of elite handpicked men who are kinda like the Time Force police, but only protect paying customers. Part of the Silver Guardians is Wes' longtime friend/rival Eric. During a battle, Wes is seriously injurred and gets his helmet broken protecting the Silver Guardians. Everyone finally knows what Wes does. When a power box is discovered that belongs to Time Force, Eric finds out the truth and so steals it. He uses it to morph into the Quantum Ranger, who is now Wes' major rival. Later on, when the Q-Rex is discovered, Wes and Eric are sent back in time together. Eric almost leaves Wes there when the time portal opens again, but he grudgingly brings Wes back.
Later in the series, Alex arrives in the present time, he takes the red morpher from Wes. While Alex reigns as leader, Wes is at the hospital watching over his father, who was injured when Bio-Lab was attacked by Ransik. Later, when realizing that his dad has always been proud of him, he returns to the battlefield, saving the rangers and gaining his morpher back. Alex saves his father, understanding the importance of making one's own destiny.
