Dave's Pensacola Naval Air Station Page

I am currently a member of the United States Navy and graduated from the Aviation Electronics Technician course at Pensacola Naval Air Station in April 1999. Here are a few photos of my school and the base. Click on a thumbnail for a larger photo.

A photo of our new barracks. In class. Dave in class.

The 1.5 million square foot Chevalier Hall, our classroom building. Mr. Deal, our instructor. Note my homepage address on the board! Schoolboys on their way to school. I'm on the left.

Dave in Chevalier Hall. The brains of the class, with an academic average of >95% upon graduation from Aviation Core.

Mauney demonstrating the "advanced" 8D27 tranceiver trainer. Chief Mowry assisting his students in the radio lab. Chief Mowry with his "student calibration cane."

The INFAMOUS airman Chilson (on right). Calibrating Chilson's mind. Airman Chilson thinking about what he can do with the 7000 volt probe.

One of his thoughts. PFC "Zippy" Zapata, demonstrating his mastery of the trainer. Reflecting upon the wisdom of SSgt. Herbic.

Our class members. We have both Navy and Marine Corps students. There are no ships here, but there are a few boats. This is a helicopter landing practice boat. Sugar white sand beaches.

8 of the original 30 graduated on time. Honor graduate Duran receiving his awards. Cecil Morris with his 39" redfish caught on NAS.

Dave with a small white trout. Captain Slaven at the grand opening of NATTC's new high tech classroom(Photo by D.J. Nemes). Students getting a demonstration (photo by D.J. Nemes).

A day at the beach. The 19th century lighthouse. The National Museum of Naval Aviation.

At the outdoor exhibit. The Japanese self defense force is still flying these weird looking things! This Blue Angels (the Navy's flying team) aircraft was overstressed and sent to the museum.
