Info about Border Colies's

The Border Collie is still the most popular working sheepdog in Great Britain and Ireland, the Border Collie can make an affecectionate but difficult pet. Border Collies from working lines have a strong predatory instinct, which is channeled through breeding and training into a superb herding ability. However, without constant stimulation, this need to work will vent itself in distructive behavior, such as herding other dogs or people, or snappiness. Although shepherds in the hilly Scottish Borders used collies for many years, this breed was not givven its present name until 1915. The Border has fairly large eyes that are set wide apart. Their mane is quite heavy, and they have a slightly blunt, tapering muzzle. These dogs are good around children. They should not be kept in urban area's and need to get a lot of exercice. They can withstand cold weather, are good watchdogs, react well to obediance, and are fine with sleeping outdoors.
