Who and Where Osama bin Laden Is!
ANALYSIS: The fate of John O'Neill, the Irish-American FBI agent who for years led US investigations into Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network, is the most chilling revelation in the book Bin Laden: The Hidden Truth , published in Paris this week.
O'Neill investigated the bombings of the World Trade Centre in 1993, a US base in Saudi Arabia in 1996, the US embassies in Nairobi and Dar-Es-Salaam in 1998, and the USS Cole last year.
Jean-Charles Brisard, who wrote a report on bin Laden's finances for the French intelligence agency DST and is co-author of Hidden Truth, met O'Neill several times last summer. He complained bitterly that the US State Department - and behind it the oil lobby who make up President Bush's entourage - blocked attempts to prove bin Laden's guilt.
The US ambassador to Yemen, Ms Barbara Bodine, forbade O'Neill and his team of so- called Rambos (as the Yemeni authorities called them) from entering Yemen. In August 2001, O'Neill resigned in frustration and took up a new job as head of security at the World Trade Centre. He died in the September 11th attack.
Brisard and his co-author Guillaume Dasquié, the editor of Intelligence Online, say their book is a tribute to O'Neill. The FBI agent had told Brisard: "All the answers, everything needed to dismantle Osama bin Laden's organisation, can be found in Saudi Arabia."
But US diplomats shrank from offending the Saudi royal family. O'Neill went to Saudi Arabia after 19 US servicemen died in the bombing of a military installation in Dhahran in June 1996. Saudi officials interrogated the suspects, declared them guilty and executed them - without letting the FBI talk to them. "They were reduced to the role of forensic scientists, collecting material evidence on the bomb site," Brisard says.
O'Neill said there was clear evidence in Yemen of bin Laden's guilt in the bombing of the USS Cole \in which 17 US servicemen died\, but that the State Department prevented him from getting it."
Brisard and Dasquié discovered that the first country to issue an international arrest warrant against bin Laden was not the US, but Moamar Gadafy's Libya, in March 1998. The confidential notice, published for the first time in their book, was sent by the Libyan interior ministry to Interpol on March 16th, 1998, and accuses bin Laden of murdering two German intelligence agents, Silvan Becker and his wife, in Libya in 1994.
Bin Laden supported a fundamentalist group called al-Muqatila, made up of Libyans who had fought with him against the Soviets in Afghanistan.
Al-Muqatila wanted to assassinate Gadafy, whom it considered an infidel. According to the former MI5 agent David Shayler, British intelligence - also in league with al-Muqatila - tried to assassinate Gadafy in November 1996.
It was because of British collaboration with al-Muqatila that the Interpol warrant was ignored, Brisard says. Since September 11th, al-Muqatila has been placed on President Bush's list of "terrorist groups".
The central thesis of Brisard and Dasquié's book is sure to join the annals of 21st century conspiracy theories. The writers document negotiations between the Bush administration and the Taliban between February and August of this year.
Less convincingly, they conjecture that the September 11th suicide attacks were the result of the failure of those negotiations.
The chief motivation behind US attempts to make peace with the Taliban can be summed up in one word: oil. The former Soviet republics of Central Asia - Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and especially "the new Kuwait", Kazakhstan - have vast oil and gas reserves. But Russia has refused to allow the US to extract it through Russian pipelines and Iran is considered a dangerous route. That left Afghanistan.
The US oil company Chevron - where Mr Bush's National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice was a director throughout the 1990s - is deeply involved in Kazakhstan. In 1995, another US company, Unocal (formerly Union Oil Company of California) signed a contract to export $8 billion worth of natural gas through a $3 billion pipeline which would go from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan.
The authors recall how the State Department applauded the Taliban takeover in September 1996, five months after a US assistant secretary of state warned "economic opportunities will be missed" if political stability was not restored in Afghanistan.
Laila Helms, the part Afghan niece of the former CIA director and former US ambassador to Tehran Richard Helms, is described as the Mata-Hari of US-Taliban negotiations.
Ms Helms brought Sayed Rahmatullah Hashimi, an adviser to Mullah Omar, to Washington for five days in March 2001 - after the Taliban had destroyed the ancient Buddhas of Bamiyan. Hashimi met the directorate of Central Intelligence at the CIA and the Bureau of Intelligence and Research at the State Department.
In negotiations which continued until July, the US then took a more discreet position, letting the UN envoy Francesc Vendrell do most of the work and appointing a former US ambassador to Pakistan, Thomas Simons, to represent the US at informal meetings in Berlin.
The last direct US contact with the Taliban was on August 2nd, 2001, when Christina Rocca, the director of Asian affairs at the State Department, met the Taliban ambassador in Islamabad. Ms Rocca was previously in charge of contacts with Islamist guerrilla groups at the CIA, where in the 1980s, she oversaw the delivery of Stinger missiles to Afghan mujaheddin.
Last February, the Taliban had indicated it might be willing to hand over bin Laden, but by June, according to Brisard and Dasquié, the US began considering military action. "The US thought they could 'decouple' Osama bin Laden from the Taliban," Brisard says. "What they did not understand was that without bin Laden, the Taliban regime wouldn't have existed."
By dispatching Francesc Vendrell to see the exiled King Zaher Shah in Rome and raising the threat of military action, Washington "backed the Taliban into a corner", the authors say. For the Taliban - assuming its leadership had advance knowledge of the suicide attacks - September 11th was a sort of pre-emptive strike.
Brisard and Dasquié claim a significant part of the Saudi royal family supports bin Laden. "Saudi Arabia has always protected bin Laden - or protected itself from him," says Brisard. He points out that attacks inside the kingdom targeted US interests, never the Saudis.
Khalid bin Mahfouz is the former chairman of the kingdom's biggest bank, the National Commercial Bank, who, with 10 family members received Irish citizenship in December 1990. Brisard and Dasquié call him "the banker of terror".
The 73-year-old Mahfouz is now under house arrest in the Saudi resort of Taif, accused by the FBI and CIA of having diverted $2 billion to Islamic charities that helped bin Laden.
More than 35 local commanders made banking transactions involving identical $200,000 sums late last year, in at least some cases after meetings with U.S. officials.
The transactions totaled more than $7 million and helped prompt a spending spree on four-wheel-drive vehicles in Pakistan.
The gifts of satellite telephones to the tribal commanders, whose efforts proved crucial to driving Taliban forces from southern and eastern Afghanistan, has been well-publicized in the region, but the cash payments have not.
Asked about the payments, a senior Western diplomat based in Pakistan said, "It sounds like someone in the State Department finally learned how Afghanistan works. The commanders have become fairly adept at selling themselves, and they always need money for guns."
U.S. recognition of this fact is evident from the decision to offer a reward of $25 million for information leading to the arrest of Osama bin Laden.
However a State Department official in Washington denied knowledge of such a program, calling it "bizarre" and "not something the State Department would normally do." A CIA spokesman declined to comment.
Among those receiving the payments was Mirza Mohammed Nassery, who defected from the Taliban and served as a commander with the Pir Gillani group in the hotly contested city of Kunduz in northern Afghanistan.
According to his driver, Mr. Nassery last fall made the long trip from Kunduz to the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, where he spent an hour and emerged carrying a large black briefcase.
He then drove to Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan and immediately called his banker, who belongs to a "hawala" based in the city's Chowk Yadgar district. A "hawala" is an underground banking system, common in South Asia, that allows transfers of funds without paperwork.
The banker arrived shortly afterward at Mr. Nassery's house.
According to the banker, who discussed the case on the condition he not be identified, Mr. Nassery opened his briefcase and placed $200,000 and a large satellite telephone on the table.
Initially hesitant to explain where he got the money, the tribal commander told the banker that American officials had given him the cash in exchange for his cooperation in the drive to topple the Taliban and destroy al Qaeda.
According to his banker, Mr. Nassery laughed as he described the end of the meeting, when an American official asked him to sign a statement agreeing to terms for the receipt of the funds.
However, Mr. Nassery was not laughing when he emphasized the need for the money to be sent through the hawala to Kabul, the Afghan capital.
Mr. Nassery died several weeks later in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan along with two other high-ranking Afghan commanders who worked with the Pir Gillani, and the money is still waiting to be claimed in Kabul, the banker said.
Interviews with dozens of moneychangers and hawala operators in Chowk Yadgar, the largest market for currency transfers into Afghanistan, showed that no fewer than 35 tribal commanders, most of them Taliban defectors, either deposited or arranged the transfer of $200,000 sums.
A highly placed source in the Interior Ministry of Hamid Karzai's interim administration in Kabul also confirmed that many such payments took place in the weeks after the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.
A midranking U.S. Army officer involved in the siege of Tora Bora, who declined to be named, said, "While we never talked about it directly, everyone knew that the cooperation of the commanders, most of them former Taliban, had been bought."
The influx of cash explains in part a run on high-priced sport utility vehicles in Peshawar. One Toyota dealer said: "Now that the mujahideen have plenty of money they prefer Toyota pickups and SUVs because, in the words of one commander, 'Toyota is good for jihad.'"
Over the past 20 years of strife in Afghanistan, warlords have developed a keen sense of survival and a history of switching sides.
According to military analysts, cash payments are attractive because they allow a warlord to avoid defeat from an obviously more powerful force and at the same time build up reserves of weapons.
"If we had only given them satellite phones and no money they would have had no reason to speak with us and probably would have sold the sat-phones," the U.S. Army officer said.
The current U.S. administration has sent American military forces to the other side of the world to capture Osama bin Laden. The real, imminent threat, however, is here at home. The horrendous attacks of September 11th involved only a small number of the Trojan Horse terrorist troops still within our gates. It is this legion of terror that must be rooted out before it can launch even more cataclysmic attacks of death and destruction on America.
Over the past four decades, The New American and its predecessors (American Opinion and The Review of the News) have published a veritable mountain of articles detailing the establishment of a vast terror network within the United States. Terrorist organizations and their sponsors from virtually every part of the world have been building their support apparatuses in our country for years. At the same time, many "domestic" terrorist groups — U.S. citizens who, invariably, are supported by foreign powers — have also been honeycombing America with their subversive networks. For a period of nearly eight years during the 1970s and 1980s, this reporter watched firsthand, in an undercover capacity, as these networks were being assembled. I was present at many meetings featuring members of certified terrorist groups such as the Palestinian PLO and PFLP, the Irish Republican Army, the El Salvadoran FMLN, the Nicaraguan Sandinistas (FSLN), the Puerto Rican FALN, the Black Panthers, the African National Congress, and others.
This writer was an eyewitness also at meetings where members of these terrorist groups mingled with radical and Communist lawyers posing as "civil libertarians" to coordinate their systematic legal attacks on police and intelligence agencies. Their plan was simple and effective: 1) present themselves as victims of political and ethnic persecution by law enforcement groups; 2) demand an end to "police spying" and "McCarthyism"; 3) bring harassing lawsuits and orchestrate media attacks to demoralize, intimidate, neuter, and dismantle investigative agencies; and 4) use their newfound freedom from surveillance to patiently advance their subversive agenda.
These forces were at war with our civilization, we repeatedly warned, and were attempting to bring about the destruction of our free republic. After many years of preparation, that war has now entered a new phase. The fact that bombs are not going off daily should not be taken as a signal for complacence; waiting for the next round of terror to begin before taking appropriate action is folly. There are identifiable terrorists and terrorist supporters in our midst who can be arrested or deported now. At the very least, they should be put under strict surveillance immediately so as to avoid the imposition of police state measures on all citizens, measures which will surely follow any additional terrorist rampage. The following groups and individuals should be watched closely.
Al-Qaeda
Almost completely unheard of by the American public before the events of Black Tuesday, Osama bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda network has now become the subject of daily headlines. It is quite possible that Al-Qaeda has been involved in several of the most deadly acts of terrorism perpetrated against the U.S. over the past decade. Since the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, The New American has published a series of articles detailing the extensive evidence that Middle Eastern terrorist cells were involved with convicted OKC bomber Timothy McVeigh and co-conspirator Terry Nichols. We also reported credible evidence linking those Mideast cells to the terror ring of Ramzi Yousef and Osama bin Laden that was responsible for the earlier 1993 World Trade Center (WTC) bombing and other terrorist acts.*
Ramzi Yousef, now convicted and imprisoned for his role in the first WTC attack, had also plotted a spectacular terrorist act involving the simultaneous hijacking of multiple American airliners. We reported this along with other evidence, and we delivered considerable evidence from our investigation, including sworn affidavits from witnesses, to members of Congress during several visits to Washington, D.C. If officials had followed up on this credible evidence, might the terrible events of Black Tuesday been averted? Very possibly.
The TNA investigation indicated that Iraqi soldiers whom President Clinton had admitted to the U.S. as "refugees," and who had settled in Oklahoma City, were active members of the OKC bombing conspiracy. Ramzi Yousef, according to recent reports by former CIA chief James Woolsey and Iraq specialist Dr. Laurie Mylroie, is not Pakistani, as originally thought, but Iraqi and an agent of Saddam Hussein. One of Yousef’s convicted co-conspirators in the 1993 WTC bombing, Abdul Hakim Murad, has admitted to being a member of the group that he claims bombed the Murrah Building. Other Yousef co-conspirators, Mahmud Abouhalima and El Sayyid Nosair, had ongoing connections with bin Laden’s top lieutenant, Wadih el-Hage. Abouhalima actually met with el-Hage at a radical Islamic conference in Oklahoma City. Nevertheless, no one in the Clinton administration, the media, or Congress was willing to consider seriously any evidence that might point to a Middle East connection and upset the forced "consensus" that the OKC attack was the work of angry, "anti-government," "right-wing," white males.
But surely now, after September 11th, the Al-Qaeda network here in the U.S. has been rounded up, right? Nearly two weeks after Black Tuesday, on September 23rd, Washington Post writers Bob Woodward and Walter Pincus reported that four to five cells of Osama bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda have been allowed to operate in the United States for the last several years — and continue to do so — under the watchful eyes of the FBI. The FBI says it is helpless to arrest the men until they do something illegal. At least two of the hijackers of the September 11th attacks, Khalid Al-Midhar and Nawaq Alhazmi, were also on this same FBI "watch list." They also, presumably, did nothing illegal — before commandeering a plane and using it for a suicide terror attack.
The FBI and Immigration and Naturalization Service are shackled by lawsuits and legislation, such as the 1990 Immigration law sponsored by Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.), which have left us wide open to terrorists. The Kennedy law, as interpreted by our State Department, holds that "mere" membership in a terrorist organization or advocacy of acts of terrorism does not exclude foreigners from receiving U.S. immigration or visitor visas.
Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Hezbollah
Articles in The New American have also presented some of the evidence we have gathered showing the likely connection of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Yasser Arafat’s PLO to the OKC-WTC terror attacks as well as to Yousef and bin Laden. Those familiar with the long history of transnational cooperation between multiple groups in terrorist operations do not find this difficult to believe; in fact, they expect it. We pointed out, for instance, that Ramadan Abdullah Shallah, the head of Islamic Jihad, was, at the time of the OKC bombing, posing as a harmless economics professor at the University of South Florida and running a Tampa-based revolutionary apparatus disguised as an Islamic "think tank." Hamas and Hezbollah also have their religious, academic, and humanitarian front organizations in the U.S. All three of these terror groups have proven to be deadly, ruthless, and virulently anti-American. And all have utilized suicide attacks.
In April of this year, when Iran sponsored another of its terrorist summits, leaders of all three groups attended: Sheikh Hasan Nasrallah of the Lebanese Hezbollah; Khalid Mash’al of Hamas; and Ramadan Shallah of the Islamic Jihad. Their adherents here in America pretend to be disciples of peace but, like Ramzi Yousef, who claimed asylum status, they mean to do America grave harm. And they have made serious inroads among the 10 million Muslims who now reside in the United States.
Yet, when Secretary of State Colin Powell announced that the Bush administration was freezing the U.S. assets of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda, he did not announce a similar policy concerning the considerable assets of organizations connected to Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad.
PLO and PFLP
Yasser Arafat is, arguably, the world’s richest and most celebrated terrorist. He is royally received as head of state in capitals from Russia to China, Cuba, Iraq, Latin America, Europe, and the United States. He is heralded as a reformed man of peace beset by hard-liners bent on spoiling his commitment to the "peace process." And he is showered with billions of tax dollars from Europe, America, and Arab states. Yet, his Palestine Liberation Organization remains one of the world’s largest terrorist armies, and he maintains relations with terrorist organizations worldwide. His network of loyal followers and paid agents within the United States is extensive. As previously mentioned, key individuals in both the WTC and OKC bombings had direct ties to the PLO.
Compared to its record of high-profile hijackings and bombings in the 1960s and ’70s, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) seemed to have gone into relative inactivity and obscurity during the past two decades. On October 21st of this year, however, the PFLP captured headlines again, with its assassination of Israel’s Minister of Tourism, Rehavam Zeevi. The PFLP, a hard-core Marxist-Leninist branch of the PLO, headed for many years by George Habash, has its network here in America also. Beginning in 1987, the INS attempted to deport eight PFLP foreign nationals — seven Palestinians and one Kenyan. The ACLU, the National Lawyers Guild, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and the usual retinue of Hollywood activists rallied to the terrorist cause. The PFLP terror supporters became the "LA 8" martyrs, and the INS was forced to appeal all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, a process that took 12 years and millions of dollars.
FMLN, FSLN, EZLN, FALN
Although Middle Eastern terrorist groups have grabbed the limelight, Latin American groups almost certainly have larger numbers of trained operatives within the U.S. The Farabundo Marti guerrillas of El Salvador (FMLN) and the Sandinistas of Nicaragua (FSLN) are Cuban-backed and have large contingents of cadres inside our borders among the respective immigrant groups from those countries. Providing crucial assistance to the FMLN and FSLN within the U.S. are Communist-founded support groups such as CISPES (Committees in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador), NACLA (North American Congress on Latin America), and WOLA (Washington Office on Latin America). CISPES was founded by Farid Handal, the brother of Salvadoran Communist Party leader Shafik Handal. Farid received help in his effort from Alfredo Garcia Almeida, one of Fidel Castro’s intelligence agents stationed at the Cuban mission to the UN. CISPES has placed its committees in hundreds of U.S. communities and on many college campuses.
Likewise, Mexico’s Cuban-backed Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) has a large presence in the U.S. and is supported by a large, radical Hispanic network and the usual college revolutionaries. The very violent Cuban-backed FALN and the Macheteros of Puerto Rico have stepped up their organizing activities since President Clinton’s 1999 release from prison of 11 convicted FALN terrorists. President Bush’s cave-in to FALN demands for the U.S. Navy to leave the Vieques training base in Puerto Rico has served only to further escalate the terrorists’ demands.
The IRA
Like the PLO, the Irish Republican Army has gone respectable. Like Chairman Arafat, the IRA’s Gerry Adams has professed peaceful intentions and denounced violence. He was a regular visitor to the Clinton White House. Recent developments, though, have proven the IRA peace offensive to be as phony as the PLO’s. In August three top officers in the IRA’s "legitimate" political party, Sinn Fein, were arrested in Colombia, where they had allegedly traveled to provide explosives expertise to that nation’s FARC terrorists. One of the men, James Monaghan, sat with Gerry Adams at annual Sinn Fein conferences. Another, Martin McCauley, was Sinn Fein’s director of elections in Upper Bann in 1996. The third man, Niall Connolly, Sinn Fein’s main emissary to Latin America, had lived in Communist Cuba for six years. In April, Sinn Fein Senator Mick Lanigan showed up at the aforementioned terror conference in Teheran.
Not only has the IRA refused to disarm, as its leaders had earlier pledged to do, but it has been caught receiving guns through a gun-smuggling ring in the U.S. The IRA has always counted heavily for financial support from the large U.S. Irish community, which it has been very careful to shield from knowledge of the organization’s ties to Russia, Cuba, Libya, and other terrorist-sponsoring states and terrorist organizations.
Nation of Islam
Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam is certain to become a major force in the terror wars ahead. In 1998 he completed his third "World Friendship Tour," which took him to some 40 countries, including all of the hate-America terror states. Among the nations visited by Farrakhan were Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Russia, and Cuba. During his 1996 tour, Libya’s terrorist kingpin, Muammar Qaddafi, pledged $1 billion to Farrakhan’s efforts in the U.S. According to JANA, the official mouthpiece of the Libyan government, Qaddafi said "American blacks could set up their own state within the United States with the largest black army in the world." Qaddafi also stated: "Our confrontation with America used to be like confronting a fortress from outside. Today, we have found a loophole to enter the fortress and to confront it from within."
Following his visit to the ruins of one of Qaddafi’s residences that was bombed in the 1986 U.S. retaliatory attack on Tripoli, Farrakhan wrote this consoling note to Qaddafi: "I implore God to punish our enemies hundreds of times, just as they did to us and against you." Farrakhan identifies completely with Qaddafi and, like "Mad Muammar," considers the U.S. to be his "enemy."
The Nation of Islam leader then went on to Tehran, where, Agence France Presse reported, "Farrakhan paid tribute … to Iran on the anniversary of its 1979 Islamic revolution, as a crowd of tens of thousands chanted ‘Death to America.’"
Farrakhan laid a wreath on the tomb of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, professed his love for the maniacal Imam, and declared that "we will use American Muslim unity as a lever of pressure against the arrogant policies of the United States."
Although his "Million Man March" didn’t live up to its billing, Farrakhan has demonstrated the ability to assemble hundreds of thousands and to command the fanatical loyalty of thousands of devotees. That is especially frightening considering his ties and commitments to the most ruthless terror regimes.
Kosovo Liberation Army
As William Norman Grigg has repeatedly shown in these pages, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) is one of the deadliest narco-terrorist criminal syndicates in the world. Maoist in ideology, it has covered itself with a veneer of Islamism to better appeal to Balkan Muslims and hide its true terrorist agenda.
Allied with Osama bin Laden, the Russian- and Chinese-backed terror regime in Iran, and the Albanian and Italian mafias, the KLA cadres have become the major heroin traffickers and assassins-for-hire throughout Europe. During the Clinton administration, the KLA was made our "ally" in Kosovo and given protected sanctuaries under NATO and UN control. Hundreds, if not thousands, of KLA terrorists have been admitted to the U.S. as "refugees."
Cuba
Since he hosted the infamous 1966 Tricontinental Conference in Havana, assembling more than 500 representatives from virtually every terrorist group in the world, Fidel Castro has served as the chief impresario of the international terror apparatus. In May, just four months before Black Tuesday, Fidel journeyed to his fellow terror states of Iran, Syria, Libya, and Algeria. In Iran, he told the cheering mobs: "Today, there is a king in the world a thousand times stronger than the shah you overthrew, and that is the imperialist king living next to my homeland. However, this imperialist king will finally fall, just as your king was overthrown." In July, Hassan Khomeini, the 29-year-old grandson of the late Ayatollah Khomeini, was Castro’s honored guest in Havana for "National Rebellion Day."
Castro has developed a huge network of agents and sympathizers in the U.S. and, as recent spy arrests and trials have demonstrated, his agents have successfully penetrated critical offices in the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the U.S. Air Force.
One of his spies, Alejandro Alonso, revealed during his trial in Miami, on December 30, 2000, that he was instructed by the Havana regime to locate areas in South Florida "where we can move persons as well as things, including arms and explosives."
Is it just a coincidence that so many of the September 11th hijackers operated out of Florida, or did they receive assistance through Castro’s Florida networks? It is possible that the Black Tuesday attacks would have been even more horrendous if three men traveling on Pakistani passports through Cuba had not been arrested in the Cayman Islands in August 2000. The three, who claim to be Afghans, are still being held by the government of the Cayman Islands. The Cayman government released a letter that had been sent to Radio Cayman 13 days prior to the attacks, foretelling the coming catastrophe. The letter was from Cayman pleasure boat captain Byron Barnett, who claimed to have overheard the three men conversing with another individual. Mr. Barnett warned:
[W]e have an urgent situation with the three Afghanistan [sic] that we have in our midsts for the past months. I have been convinced that they are agents of Osama Bin Laden — one of the world’s greatest terrorist — operating out of — you guessed it — Afghanistan. The three agents here are organizing a major terrorist act against the U.S. via an airline or airlines.... Why do you think that their last country before they came to the Cayman Islands was Cuba? I feel that the world will think this is the most unlikely place on Earth to launch an attack — the Cayman Islands.... If we foil these agents’ plans we may never know for sure why they are here, but if we allow this attack to be carried out this would be one of the greatest and most far reaching catastrophes for these Islands.
Incredibly, despite Castro’s 40-year record of terrorist activities and support for terrorism, subversion, war, and revolution, the "leading lights" of the U.S. foreign policy establishment — especially at the Council on Foreign Relations — are advocating that Cuba be dropped from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism, and that the U.S. move toward "normalization" of relations with Castro.
Rather than accepting the arguments that we must give up our freedom and adopt police-state measures to deal with terrorism, the American people must insist that the federal government utilize its proper authority and ample resources to root out the enemies — foreign and domestic — who have shown by word and deed that they are aligned with the forces of terror and darkness.

The PLO associated with Hizballah suicide terrorism
Suicide terror attacks started in Lebanon in April 1983. A small—and until then unknown—group by the name of Hizballah directed a number of suicide attacks against Western targets. The first attack was directed at the American embassy in Beirut (April 1983), followed by attacks on the U.S. Marines headquarters and the French Multinational Force (October 1983). The last two were executed simultaneously and resulted in 300 casualties and dozens of wounded. The later attack made an indelible impression on world public opinion and terror organizations alike.
After the withdrawal of the Western forces from Lebanon, Hizballah redirected its suicide activities in Lebanon against Israeli Defense Forces (convoys, posts and boarder passages) and against South Lebanese Army posts. Hizballah henceforth significantly decreased its use of this modus operandi to one attack per year or less. Despite this it enjoyed its legacy as the pioneer of suicide bombings in the region.
The aims of Hizballah suicide missions changed and developed over the course of time. Initially, Hizballah was interested in building up it image as a power. Since it was until then a small and little-known group in Lebanon, let alone in the rest of the world, the introduction of this new and devastating modus operandi served the goal of gaining local and global publicity and notoriety.
Hizballah also represented its Iranian patrons with a valuable image for the spread of the Islamic revolution. The readiness of Shi’ite terrorists, utterly fearless and ready to sacrifice themselves for the defense of the “oppressed on earth” was an important propagandist instrument for both Iran and Hizballah.
Hizballah’s suicide attacks were successful in driving the foreign UN Peace Keeping forces out of Lebanon. The attacks also caused the Israeli army to withdraw from the heartland of central Lebanon to a narrow strip in the South.
Suicide attacks also served the organization as a weapon of retaliation and deterrence against Israel. After the Israeli Air-Force killed Hizballah’s secretary general, Abas Musavi in February 1992, the organization carried out a suicide attack against the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires (March 1992) killing 29 people and wounding 250.
In 1994 Hizballah executed another such attack in the same city, against the “AMIA” building of the local Jewish community in retaliation for I.D.F. aerial attack in Lebanon against a Hizballah training camp in Ein Dardara.
Lebanon had seen around 50 suicide attacks between 83-99. The Shiite organizations, Hizballah and Amal were responsible for about half of these. The second half is attributed to five other groups espousing a non-religious nationalist ideology. Impressed by the effectiveness of Hizballah’s attacks in precipitating the withdrawal of the “foreigners” from Lebanon, the nationalist groups followed suit.
Hizballah also influenced a number of terrorist organizations in other countries. Occasionally this influence went beyond merely being a role model.
In Kuwait there two suicide attacks were attributed to El-Dawa, a local Kuwaiti-Shiite fundamentalist group. The first suicide attack was carried out in December 1983 as one in a series of “conventional attacks” of attacks on American, French and Kuwaiti interests. The second attack was directed at the Emir al-Sabah, in May 1985. Hizballah’s direct involvement was proven when the Kuwaiti authorities arrested and tried seventeen people, among them, Mustafa Bader-el-Din a prominent terrorist in Hizballah’s external terror apparatus. Hizballah’s continuous and extensive efforts to release him and his partners came to be known as the “Dawa Seventeen” affair.
5. Ariel Sharon of Israel.
Ariel Sharon's mission - his enemies call it a dangerous obsession - is to fight for Israel's security, believing all the while that the end justifies the means. Right or wrong, I don't believe that he will change his ways this late in life!
As the ache of winter recedes, the three-headed beast makes its way toward daylight. Clad in a protective covering of peace, it leaves in its wake an excess of hatred and propaganda.
Its heads nod in synchronized motion. On one side sits the European left. On the other, the campus mobs. And dead center is the U.N. and all its affiliates. Each is draped in the Palestinian flag. And each has turned its face from Israel.
The anti-Israeli themes that the beast has embraced are uncomfortably familiar. They are a by-product of a long, deep and dedicated campaign, reminiscent of Joseph Goebbels' efforts during the Nazi regime. The seeds of loathing that were planted over decades in fertile fields of ignorance, illiteracy and poverty have now blossomed into false martyrdom.
Since 1948, in thousands of articles, hundreds of books and untold broadcasts from Arab sources, individual, political, religious and economic success has been extolled as emanating from one singular event – the liquidation of the nation of Israel.
In this depraved philosophy, the final solution to Zionist aggression rests with the elimination of the Jewish people. If Israel defends her sovereignty, her actions are characterized as attacks. Arab assaults on Israel, on the other hand, are portrayed as acts of self-defense. The annihilation of Israel has mushroomed into a common understanding within the Arab world. Anti-Israeli lies are spread by a coalition that only professes to seek peace.
The European Left
Western Europe, with its spokespersons on the left, now openly displays contempt toward Israel. The antagonism takes the form of editorial and political commentary. While political leaders have the "excuse" of needing to pander to Muslim populations within their respective countries, the intelligentsia has no such justification.
European commentators refer to Israel's anti-terrorist action in the West Bank as "genocide." There is also talk of economic sanctions, recall of ambassadors and reduction of bilateral relations unless Ariel Sharon abandons Israel's military approach in the West Bank and Gaza.
The Spanish foreign minister has recommended that, as a prelude to sanctions, EU members recall their ambassadors from Israel en masse.
The German government, which has been a consistent supporter of Israel, has now declared an arms embargo against her.
The European Parliament has adopted a strongly worded resolution that calls for economic sanctions against Israel. Though non-binding, the resolution would likely put pressure on European governments to modify their relations with Israel. Strange that the European Union said and did nothing when the Palestinian Authority's homicide bombers recently killed 83 and wounded 374.
Campus Mobs
The same kind of rhetoric is surfacing in a venue that has traditionally been dominated by the left - the U.S. university. The hate-America crowd is in full force, spewing out antipathy for Israel.
A newly fashioned anti-war movement, which looks like the peace movement of the '60s, is in vogue. But this one uses a slogan that was lifted from the U.N. conference in Durbin: Zionism = racism. At 30 U.S. universities, students are showing solidarity with the Palestinians. Students are crying out for boycotts of Israeli investments and businesses. The same tactics employed against old South Africa for apartheid are being used in colleges today.
The U.N. and Its Affiliates
Supranationalists at the U.N. have also fed into the motives for the current brand of terrorism. Only days before America was attacked on Sept. 11, the U.N. World Conference Against Racism held a virtual hate fest against the U.S. and Israel.
On the first day of the conference, the tone was set when Yasser Arafat named Israel as a racist state that "practices racism and … adopts ethnic cleansing." Arafat asked those in attendance to issue a condemnation of Israel. Strange again that U.N. gatherers ignored the slurs against Jews, which were repeatedly aired on Arafat-controlled Palestinian TV.
As synagogues in Europe, Canada and Australia were vandalized and burned to the ground, the U.N. sat curiously silent. And to date there has been no heartfelt condemnation of the series of homicide bombings.
Just recently, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan called for the deployment of an armed international force to Palestinian areas. Annan also left open the question of whether the brand new International Criminal Court might be used against Israeli officials.
It appears as though the creature has gained strength in the passing months. It has feasted on fear and energized itself with hate.
But those of decent mind know that the time has come for the three-headed beast to be tethered. Once bound, it will remain so only if we are able to fasten its jaws with the chains of fairness and break its spirit with the yoke of truth.
Why are the following not on his assasination list?
1. Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan. This one we have not yet put our finger on the reason yet!
His aides hoped the event would show an open and confident leader, connected to the modern world. How convinced were you by his performance and by his record so far as president?
It is nearly one year since Vladimir Putin won a sweeping election victory, promising to work to end the chaos undermining the world's second biggest nuclear state.
In that time, the former KGB agent has been accused of a brutal disregard for human rights in the breakaway republic of Chechnya and of intimidation of the Russian media.
Is Mr Putin an anti-democrat pushing Russia into a new era of confrontation with the West, or the firm leader the country needs to confront its dire problems?
And is the type of webcast Mr Putin took part in this week a useful tool for ordinary people to put world leaders on the spot in the internet age - or just a public relations exercise for the benefit of the person in the limelight?
2. President Putin of Russia. Russia provides nuclear technology and materials as well as chemicals such as sarin gas and biological weapons to our enemy. We can understand why he is not on hit list!
3. Jiang Zemin of China. China provided nuclear and biological technology and weapons to many of our enemies also. The Golden Triangle is well know for its illicit drug trade. The Illicit drugs: major transshipment point for heroin produced in the Golden Triangle; growing domestic drug abuse problem; source country for chemical precursors and methamphetamine.
4. Fidel Castro of Cuba. Illicit drugs: territorial waters and air space serve as transshipment zone for cocaine bound for the US and Europe;
5. Andres Pastrana of Columbia.We know that the Cartels are working hand and hand with terrorist by using drugs to weaken America.
Illicit drugs: Columbia is the illicit producer of coca, opium poppies, and cannabis; world's leading coca cultivator (cultivation of coca in 1999 - 122,500 hectares, a 20.3% increase over 1998); cultivation of opium in 1999 increased to 7,500 hectares from 6,100 hectares in 1998; potential production of opium in 1999 - 75 metric tons, a 25% increase over 1998; potential production of heroin in 1999 - nearly 8 metric tons, as compared with 6 tons in 1998; the world's largest processor of coca derivatives into cocaine; supplier of about 90% of the cocaine to the US and the great majority of cocaine to other international drug markets, and an important supplier of heroin to the US market; So we can see why they are not on any hit list. It was said to us last week that Osama bin Laden's visit there in March is to obtain more funds to complete his battle against America.
As well as the leaders of North Korea, Sudan and over 60 other countries that have terrorist cells and training facilities active within their borders.

For those of you who want to know where and when the secret power brokers of the world will meet this year, here it is!
Bilderberg will seal off the Westfields Marriott, just seven miles south of Washington’s Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, Va., for its annual meeting of the super-rich and super-famous on the weekend of May 30-June 2.
While it is the closest Bilderberg has ever come to Washington for annual secret meetings to plot the world’s future, Westfields is ideal for the security-paranoid international elite. Westfields stands in lonely grandeur with much space separating the resort from tall brick buildings in a luxury “office park.”
Perhaps coincidentally, neighboring office buildings are home to numerous spy organizations.
The last time Bilderberg met in Virginia was 1962, when the secret gang of international financiers and political leaders took over all of Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Va. Bilderberg tends to meet on the same continent as the Group of Eight economic summits, which follow shortly afterwards, featuring heads of state from the world’s industrialized nations. The G-8 will meet in Alberta, Canada June 26-28.
Bilderberg’s junior varsity, the Trilateral Commission, will meet April 5-7 in Washington at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Bilderberg and the TC have an interlocking leadership and a common global agenda. David Rockefeller and Henry Kissinger are powers in both groups.
Trilaterals have about 320 participants while the more exclusive Bilderberg has about 120. The TC includes Japan, while Bilderberg draws only from Europe and North America. Both high-powered groups plan the future, together, of the entire world.
BILDERBERG’S AGENDA
High on their common agenda this year is how to exploit “the war on terrorism” to increase their control of the “world without borders” while generating immense profits. The Trilaterals will meet behind closed doors at the Ritz Carlton but not seal off the entire downtown hotel. Bilderberg will have armed guards blocking the entrance to Westfields and none but participants will be permitted inside. There will be no other guests.
Sources inside both groups say they will try to exploit the new “war on terrorism” to advance an old agenda: Establishing NATO formally as the United Nations’ standing army, imposing a direct UN tax on the world, global gun control and selling the Free Trade Area of the Americas as a “necessary step to ward off future attacks.”
It is all part of a grand design to establish a world government under the UN. As NAFTA expands through out the Western Hemisphere as the FTAA it is to evolve into the “American Union” and “dollarization” is to be come the common currency, as the euro is in Europe. Bilderberg luminaries have directly acknowledged this to an American Free Press reporter.
Other Bilderberg sources said the site near Washington was chosen for several reasons.
Dulles is considered one of the most secure airports in the wake of 9-11 and it is a short ride in flag-draped limos to Westfields. While instant communication with the White House has always been easy, wherever in the world Bilderberg hides, it is a 30-mile drive for any high official of the administration who may be summoned on short notice. High officials of the administration will be attending the full three-day session anyway.
But more are prepared to come like a dog to the whistle if called.
