Athena

Athena is the goddess of wisdom and warfare. She invented agricultural tools, the loom and ways of weaving. Her other names are Parthenos, and Pallas. Her city is Athens, the owl is her bird and the olive tree is her plant. She is also the chief of the Virgin Triad. She holds Zeus' lightening bolts and has the head of Medusa on her shield which is called Aegis, also Zeus'.

Some stories say that she sprang from the head of Zues fully grown and in full armor. Another that her mother was Metis, a titaness. Zeus got a phrophecy that said Metis would bear a girl child, but if they had another, that child would be stronger than Zeus. Zeus then ate Metis to prevent this and Athena went up in Zeus' head and gave him a tremendous headace. Zeus ordered Hepheastus to open his head and thats when Athena emerged.
