Demeter

Demeter is the goddess of the harvest. She is also known as the golden haired goddess. She is the sister of Zeus and was one of his consorts. Through him she had Persephone. When Hades took her daughter, she was so distraught that she blanketed the earth with snow and every plant died. She eventually got her daughter back, but Persephone ate six pomegrante seeds while she was there. If any living person eats anything while they are in underworld, they must stay. Zeus allowed Hades to keep Persephone for six months of the year and Demeter would have her for the other six months. Thats where we get summer and winter.
