The fates were the daughters of Zeus and Themis. Their names were Clotho (spinner), Lachesis (Allotter), and Atropos (Inflexible). Clotho spun the thread, Lachesis dispensed it, and Atropos cut the thread determining the moment of death.
Their other names were Parcae and Moirai.
