Somnus is the god of sleep and dreams. He is the brother of Thanatos and son od Nyx.
He lives in the underworld in a dark misty cave on the island of Lemnos. The river Lethe, the river of forgetfulness and oblivion flowed though his chamber. He was surrounded by his many sons. Morpheus, who gave dreams of men; Icelus, who gave dreams of animals; and Phantasus, who gave dreams of inanimate things.
Along with Nyx, Hypnos and his sons have never seen the light of day.
