Semidarkened California once again considers bad actors as viable candidates for high public office.

Golden State Republicans are looking seriously at actors Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Conrad and Ben Stein to challenge Democratic Gov. Gray Davis in 2002.

After all, La La Land actually elected a really bad actor, Republican Ronald Reagan, as governor for two terms.

And another bad actor, Republican Sonny Bono, as mayor of Palm Springs and as a United States Representative.

Following California's swoon for celebrity politicians, Americans twice elected Reagan--costar with Bonzo, the chimpanzee--as U.S. President.

Let's hope that Schwarzenegger gets the Republican nomination and defeats Davis in polling booths lit by candles.

While the Austrian-born thespian might actually terminate California's energy abusers, he won't then be eligible to run for President or Vice President because of his naturalized American citizenship.
