Gee, is there anyone out there still slavering to invest some of his Social Security contributions in the stock market?

Dubya and his Republican cronies made the investment proposal when raging bulls were in hog heaven. Just like the whoopee times before the market crash in 1929.

No crash this time, but hibernating bears now rule and have caused humongous market losses even in normally stable mutual funds.

Blame Dubya himself for cooking the market's goose. He pooh-poohed the economy's health in a political move designed to deflate Democratic Party campaign credit for America's prosperity.

Dubya and his Reaganite handlers forgot the old adage: If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. (5 AUGUST 2001)
