Sports competitions clearly aren’t the predominant physical activities during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

After all, only 2,500 athletes compete in 15 venues during the 17-day extravaganza ending tomorrow.

No, the most popular physical expression is safe sex among athletes and the games’ l.6 million spectators.

Some 250,000 free gold, silver and bronze condoms were distributed to the potentially sexually active by private health organizations in the Beehive State.

That means some of the 47,055 visiting couples will average 14,700 boinks each day. Duh. Who can blame them for pursuing activities more exciting than watching figure skating, curling and the biathlon? (24 FEBRUARY 2002)
