How can America win the War on Terrorism when its teachers and parents can’t even spank children and law-enforcement officers can’t use third-degree methods on criminal suspects?

Even though Miranda rights are waived for suspected terrorists held in military stockades in Afghanistan and Guantanamo, American interrogators still must wear kid gloves because of international hissy fits.

Islamic terrorists allegedly want to die as martyrs, so threats of execution by military tribunals are not only meaningless, but welcomed.

And how can psychological mind games succeed in breaking psychopaths embracing attitudes and beliefs totally foreign to the civilized world?

America should subcontract its interrogation of suspected terrorists to a third-world ally such as Turkey, known for its no-nonsense treatment of prisoners. (21 APRIL 2002)
