Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda organization says the world’s 4.8 billion unbelievers can avoid terrorism only by conversion to Islam.
Fat chance, especially since Islamic fundamentalists exact their own brand of terror on many of the world’s l.3 billion believers .
Take sharia, the Islamic system of civil and criminal justice in Iran, Nigeria, Sudan and in Saudia Arabia and parts of Pakistan, two of America’s so-called “allies.”
Sharia requires the amputation of an offender’s right hand for theft, amputation of the left foot for a second theft, 100 lashes for non-marital sex and burial to the waist and stoning to death for adultery.
Islam now represents roughly 22 per cent of the world’s population of 6.1 billion. Many experts believe it will soon outdistance Christianity, which has 2 billion followers (33 per cent).
Hindus at 15 per cent, other religions at 16 per cent and the unaffiliated, atheists and agnostics at 14 per cent make up the balance.
Muslims (6 million) represent only 4.7 percent of America’s population of 281.4 million. Let’s keep it that way. (1 DECEMBER 2002)
