Dysfunctional political agendas routinely sidetrack today’s city councils, county commissions, state legislatures and other minor governmental agencies in America.

Local and state candidates and elective office-holders alike raise hues and cries about war and other national and international issues beyond their responsibilities and abilities to influence.

Their red herrings take valuable time and resources from the resolution of critical problems such as education, emergency services, infrastructures, congestion and other nonfederal mandates.

Rather than communicate as individual citizens to their elected and appointed federal representatives, members of local and state bodies use their collective offices as bully pulpits to placate special political constituencies.

Worse yet, local and state officials abusing their oaths of office get political IOUs and campaign contributions for future tries at higher offices.

Military operations, treaties and judicial appointments have no connections to America's animal control, property taxes or textbooks. (8 DECEMBER 2002)
