This week’s rant remained in computer limbo for hours because of some unexplained interruption of cable service.

A few days ago, a glitch interrupted cable television service from the same telecommunications giant.

Earlier, telephone service halted because of line problems experienced by another communications company.

But wait:

Interruption of service isn’t the only pain suffered by their consumers. A bigger pain is their failure to financially reimburse customers for the lost use.

When electric, gas and water services stop, the use meters stop too. But there are no meters on communications hookups.

The Federal Communications Commission and state regulators need to examine that costly consumer rip-off. (1 FEBRUARY 2004)
