Dubya and Republican leaders in Congress willingly deny extended unemployment compensation benefits in order to support their outrageous claim that America’s economy is hunky-dory.

Nearly two million American workers will exhaust their state and federal jobless benefits by next June.

Unfortunately, most of those political pawns have been looking for skilled jobs that no longer exist. They’ve been outsourced to third-world countries paying coolie wages.

Jobless Americans are really victims of a triple whammy: Disappearing jobs, expiring unemployment benefits and the prospect of retraining or settling for jobs that either don’t or won’t exist or don’t pay living wages.

Expect new street-corner signs to read: Will Work for Food, Utilities, Bills, Mortgage, Prescriptions and Taxes. (29 FEBRUARY 2004)
