What’s to prevent America’s corporations from creating millions of bogus family-wage jobs that will disappear after the November General Election?

Not a damned thing.

Corporations and wealthy individuals want Dubya and other Republicans reelected and the outrageous tax cuts for the rich made permanent in a favorable political climate.

Watch this scenario happen:

Employment improves dramatically during the next eight months and Dubya and other Republicans ride the waves of public approval to new terms.

Then, as magically as they appeared, the booming economy and employment deteriorate again. Hey, s- - t happens.

Unemployed and underemployed workers taking those new living-wage jobs should demand binding contracts guaranteeing salaries and benefits for at least five years.

Dubya and his supporters then would have to think twice about using jobs as political red herrings. (7 MARCH 2004)
