Talk about verbal redundancies.

New York real estate mogul Donald J. Trump wants to trademark the words “you’re fired” for use on games and clothing.

The Donald uses the curt phrase to dismiss underachievers on the popular NBC-TV reality show, The Apprentice.

Trump may use the words on TV and occasionally in his real businesses, but so have hundreds of tyrannical national and multinational corporations in recent years.

Millions of Americans have heard those words as plants and offices were closed or downsized and family-wage jobs were outsourced to Third World countries.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office should deny Trump’s claim to the popular phrase.

You’re fired, Donald. (28 MARCH 2004)
