Please answer these nagging questions about the Dubya Administration’s rush to deploy a $56-billion anti-ballistic-missile system this summer:

1—Have the ABMs proven to be 100 percent effective? Or even 50 percent effective?

2—Would the ABMs intercept and destroy hijacked or stolen aircraft targeting American cities or national shrines?

3—Would the ABMs detect small nuclear devices smuggled into America?

4—Does North Korea or any other enemy of America have ICBMs with nuclear warheads capable of hitting America?

5—Are ABMs more effective against terrorism than beefing up intelligence gathering, armed-forces readiness and homeland security?

Please say your answers are no, no, no, no and no.

America is mortgaging its future on another unproven Maginot Line totally ineffective against real terrorist threats.(18 APRIL 2004)
