America’s military isn’t content with just punishing reservists for refusing to commit suicide via unarmored fuel trucks in Iraq.

The military actually prosecuted Iraq-bound soldiers for scavenging unwanted vehicles and repair parts sitting in Kuwait.

One Ohio National Guard major was sentenced to six months in the stockade. A chief warrant officer also was court-martialed last May. Both were fined, dishonorably discharged and stripped of military benefits.

Add those incidents of sending troops into battle without body or vehicle armor and other vital equipment to the scandalous assignment of military police reservists without adequate training, orientation or experience as prison guards at the infamous Abu Ghraib facility in Iraq.

No wonder America’s reserve units are losing recruits. (16 JANUARY 2005)
