Wait a minute.

Two journalists for “liberal” news mediums face federal prison time for refusing to testify about confidential sources related to the leak that exposed Central Intelligence Agency covert agent Valerie Plame?

Yet “conservative” journalist and Crossfire pundit Robert Novak not only doesn’t have to reveal his sources, but doesn’t face federal criminal penalties for publicly outing the CIA operative.

Reporters Matt Cooper of Time Magazine and Judith Miller of The New York Times didn’t jeopardize America’ s efforts against international terrorism by exposing the operations officer/weapons proliferation analyst.

Novak did.

While “shield” laws protect journalists in several states, federal law does not.

What’s good for the conservative goose is good for the liberal ganders. (20 FEBRUARY 2005)
