Is America prepared for unnatural disasters such as unpredictable terrorist attacks?

Hey, America isn’t even prepared for predictable natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.

Even though New Orleans and other coastal communities were on the radar as likely victims of Mother Nature, governments at all levels appeared stunned and unprepared when Killer Katrina struck.

While most relief agencies fiddled on the outskirts of devastated Gulf Coast areas, television news crews with satellite dishes and other equipment managed to reach and interview Katrina’s victims suffering from thirst, hunger, exposure and ailments in supposedly inaccessible areas.

Congress, which managed to reassemble immediately during a holiday to pass legislation helping a brain-dead white woman in Florida, took several days to return from vacation and help thousands of near-dead minority children and adults in nearby Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Shame on America. (4 SEPTEMBER 2005)
