Thank you, David Stern.

The National Basketball Assn. commissioner this week banned gangster attire for the millionaire jocks at NBA team-related functions.

No more thuggish do-rags, bling, sweat suits, T-shirts, head bands, etc. Just business casual attire, perod.

Leave the felon accessories to gangsta rappers on MTV, drug dealers on street corners and other so-called contemporary role models.

The nation’s public schools already have had to impose dress codes banning gang colors and other underground adornments to ensure peace and decorum on campuses.

American businesses should take the next step and ban sandals, T-shirts, body rings, exposed tattoos, torn jeans and other visual insults in public workplaces.

Fat chance. (30 OCTOBER 2005)
