Remember when divorce and extramarital relationships were socially unacceptable? No more: Most marriages now end in divorce and the number of shack-ups is staggering.

Remember when legal gambling was confined to Nevada or local dog- and horse-racing tracks? No more: Most states now sponsor lotteries to ease the burden on rebellious taxpayers.
