America: land of the free using government licenses to practice religious intolerance.
First it was the Christian pharmacists refusing to fill valid prescriptions for birth-control devices and medications because of religious beliefs.
Now it is Muslim cab drivers at the Minneapolis, Minn. airport refusing to transport blind persons with guide dogs or individuals carrying containers of alcohol in any form because of religious beliefs.
Never mind that licensing agencies require providing services to customers acting within the law.
And discriminating against canines because their saliva is “unclean” is like disliking some immigrant cab drivers because they only bathe once a year—whether they need it or not.
Hey, those same self-righteous Muslims came to America on international air carriers that stock and serve alcoholic beverages. And maybe have caged dogs in the cargo holds.
Unless, of course, the cabbies snuck across the border with Canada or Mexico.
America’s constitution guarantees both freedom of religion and freedom from religion. (4 FEBRUARY 2007)
